Hi All, newbie from Galway

How old does the car have to be with auto line ?
make your decision on that
If classic would you not use as second car ?
tax only large cost all going well
and a clean old or newer should hold its money so just fuel maintenance in between
i used a classic as a every day
yes they are old
but they are surprisingly comfortable on long journeys and do everything very very well
but they are effectively a car that was designed a quarter of a century ago now
It depends on what level of comfort you demand for a daily i suposse
ideally you do want a new age for a daily but if it was the difference of getting one or not
then buy a classic and make sure it's a good one that you can move on if it doesn't suit I'd think

clean examples of either are tin tin on the ground now so a good one will always sell again
as always if bought at right price

I recently got classic insurance with autoline on my 1998 TYPE R very competitive, 330 Euro full comprehenisve with 5000 miles per year limited, must be over 25 with ANOTHER car as a daily which I have, fyi

I drove a classic as a daily for 4 yrs, loved them, much rawer than new age but I like that

15 yrs or older they told me for classic with autoline

Thats what they told me colm,, but must have another daily car, they asked what other car was but didn't look for proof of it.

Thanks guys. We have a second car in the house hold so was hoping that would count as the other car. But did some digging on classic and my NCB would not carry on it from what I found out (i.e. I would only have the classic car and any insurance I have on it will not count towards my NCB, so after 2 years I would lose my NCB).

As regards comfort for a daily for me it is not too important, but I do have to think of my wife. She suffers from chronic pain, so would have to be reasonably comfortable, she has been in an Evo 6 and that was fine, an AE86 was not. So guess just need to drive one and see how it is. I am getting really tempted by this one, it is expensive at around €4k, but has a good service record, low mileage and supposed to be in good condition with no rust.

But for insurance reasons I will have to get an "unwanted" second car, something like a Yaris/Fiesta/etc and have the classic wagon on the classic insurance. But cannot fit 3 cars at the house so would need to find somewhere suitable to park one of them. Insurance straight on an Impreza is proving to be crazy.:banghead:
