how did you end up in a subaru

Same as I always wanted an impreza but a wagon more so than the saloon, ended up by chance in my wagon as I had an eg6 civic up for sale and this lad knocked on the door offering me a swap have the car over 2 years now and still love it

pure luck really , never imagined i could ever afford one let alone insure one , the brother was looking at a ford focus in carroll and roche , i brought him up to look at it and spotted the 1.6 with all the sti gear on it asked how much , and a week later i bought a new blob eye in white , bought a 2.0 sport then and then the sti , cant imagine my garage will ever have anything other than a subaru in it

Well I'm gonna be shot but I was looking for a evo 7, spent ages looking for a clean one a only found 1 that I would buy but the garage was looking mad money and wouldn't budge so went to look a a 03 sti one day I was in Dublin for something else got a great deal on trade in and the car was spotless so done the deal. Love the 06 sti but the road tax is a serious pain with the 2.5

Am a big rally fan so always wanted one, but circumstances such as my age (insurance) and running costs such as the commute to work prevented me from buying one...until now :653:

Heard one pass the school grounds one day :icon_omg: the sound was :smoochie: so from then and from playing Colin McRae rally i had to have one.

I was at work one day and just rang up to see if i could get insured on one, they said yes :) so went to C&R and bought a V5,
in fact Tommy brought me up to collect it

a year later the bro spotted the spec c on auto trader, then it was mine :subaru:

My old boss imported an impreza from japan in the early 90s when they were rear as fook
From the first day i seen it i fell in love with the sound.
I went looking for an impreza 7 years ago and couldnt find an impreza or insurance i could afford.
I bought a 95 legacy gt as i was able to get insurance for it but it was an auto and after 6 months i got sick of the bad handling through the corners so went on the net and found the only manual gen 2 legacy gtb and in mica black(so so rear) for sale in Ireland and wanted it took a 2.5k hit and bought it.didnt think id be still driving it today as it needed so much work over the first 2 years but i have never regreted it.
Still on the original engine and pulling great still get a buzz when driving it.

The bf's legacy converted me ha. Then pure luck to get my hands on a 05 forester.
Had a wrx a while ago but only had it a week and hated that car. Never thought about
Subaru again till the legacy came around.

I used to import a few cars in from japan and got my hands on a 94 wrx, would usually leave the cars locked up in the yard until they were sold but this one i had to drive it so I insured it for a month, that was back 2003 I think ever since that I loved them. Its the feel of them, totally diferent really to anything else and then the flat engine and noise :subaru:
The next one was a 95 type RA that was just an animal, nothing on the road would keep with it , that sold very quickly so didnt get to enjoy it long enough.

I was on the look out for a type R then for ages , didnt spot one in my price range so I gave up. Ended up buying a Legacy B4 then. Sold that just before the recession hit hard and was driving a van for a while.
Now have the wagon that was left to me by my bro when he passed.Id say I'll never part with it .
:subaru:

watching bertie fisher and andrew nesbit in the late 90's rallying the balls off there imprezas :049:

so when i could afford the mad insurance prices i bought a blue 98 wrx with an sti body kit back in 05 for 13k, loved the power and feel of the car but for the life of me i couldnt get used to the big spoiler and the way it looked so sold it a month later and searched for 2 years until i found the RS  :049: :subaru:

Great thread and interesting replies folks.
For me i got the 97' STI for going to rallys after going over to Rally GB in Wales, i was blown away by how capable the AWD was up the muddy mountains in -7 degrees celsius. I was driving a 95' Mitsufugi FTO Gpx v6 at the time as a weekend car. A great sounding car but fwd only. The Suby put me in a 5sec to 60 car for lemonade money as Brewer would say. I have owned 4 now including a 07' Spec-C briefly, a 06' Outback and now have a 06' S204. I will confess i lingered after a 911S since the Nurburgring trip. But after driving one i was very disappointed by the lack of get up and go. I was more than happy with the S204 performance in Mondello, which i did not expect. So the plan is to tweak it slowly and aim for a 2min lap. My best so far is a 2.08 with road tyres, warped discs and warped lines through most corners. :shock2: Here's to many more laps and more tracks to be explored. :subaru:

Well considering I will have one. Colin McRae rally the game for the playstation. Came out in '98, I was seven, stuck with me since then that I always wanted a Subaru. 21 now so I think it's the best time to purchase one. :subaru:

being a huge McRae fan I always fancied an Impreza.the noise the power and looks always appealed to me.
Three of my mates had them when I was a lot younger than them and I always got a spin in them and loved them.
When I had my E36 M3 evo a few years and was wanting a change I had read about the spec-c and heard a lot of great reports about them.
So I put the word out with a jap trader pal of mine and told him if he got a clean one in I'd be interested in a trade in.
A few months later he called and said he had 3 of them in his showroom!!!

Off I went drove the bag out of it for an hour and handed over he cash and the M3...

Love it and will never sell it. In over 3 years of ownership it has never caused me Any trouble or missed a beat.
Chocolate pistons me hole!!!

:subaru:

always been a ford man from the time stephen finlay and malcolm wilson were driving escort wrc,s even before that my father always had mk1 and mk2 escorts rs 1600s and rs 2000s ,but once i seen colin mc crae and berty fisher throwing imprezas around the stages i was hooked on the noise but couldnt get one because of insurance until i was 30 yrs old .but about three months before my birthday a lad drove into the garage where i work to look at a 5 series we had. i was chattin him and he said he was goin to sell the wagon and buy the beemer i made him an offer and he accepted and the rest is history it was a 97 irish wrx wagon with 120,000 miles bought new in ls autos i kept it for 2years and sold it on with 190,000 on it ,then it was off to the uk for the bugeye 1 owner 72000 miles full dealer history sl model with leather ,now 104,000 miles later she is still goin strong ,by far the most practical fast car every made the wrx wagon :icon_pray:and when the time comes to change i will have a hawk wagon i am hooked :multijump:

Needed to upgrade from 2 doors to 4 and was fed up of "paying" mad money on tax, some c*nt rear ended my M3 that was for sale at the time! Wanted something more practical, more planted but still wanted some power, bought the B4, kept it for 4 years, sold that and now in the blob just over a year, no plans to change.

being a rally fan there was only one winner, loved the mk1 and mk2 escorts and then the lancia delta integrale before the legacy and then impreza ruled the world, colin did help but so did fisher, sainz, burns and solberg to name but a few.

drove my first one in rally school ireland and never looked back, have 3 now and 5 over the last 8 years, will always have aleast one for the road of track

as above with going to rallys and watching the imprezas loved the sound, allways wanted one, wasnt until 04 when dernot healy got the dealership that i got one now on my fourth impreza and one legacy :subaru:

waited until i could justify the price of performance insurance and being a rally fan , the thought of awd and 2l turbo was more than enough , cuming from a 1.0L seat ibiza :icon_omg:. waited about six months looking at every thing from 1.6 classics to 2.0 rx hawks and everything in between that was in my budget . the thoughts of 1.6 seemed more apealling from a fuel and insurance point of view . but when i was brought to see my current jdm prodrive bug (not knowing about the prodrive bit) i knew it was the one for me , and the test drive had me sold at the first go on the fast pedal , hooked worse than craic :subaru:. had to be myne . and a week later it was !

Always into me cars, started with the 1.0 saxo and took a hit with the 4000 insurance that came with it when i was 18. But knew if i started then it would get cheaper. Onto my 1.2 ibiza loved that motor, so by then could afford to get my first jap car, my SS2 Celica absolute class motor. Mate made an offer of cash and his tidy little Glanza so took that sold the Glanza and by chance saw the Wagon in blanch car park one day, and so the story goes 3 years later still have it. Hard to afford to drive at the minute with funds but hope to hold onto it. :subaru:

Colin McRae...Rothmans Legacy...Circuit of Ireland 1991...somewhere on the Dublin Mountains around Glenasmole

First time at a rally & he was the first car on the road...love at first sight  The sound was just immense :icon_pray:

Up until recently I still had the car magazines from 93/94 when they brought out the Impreza, first testing it on its own & then back to back against the Cossie & Celica GT4

Still haven't fallen out of love :smoochie:
