how did you end up in a subaru

Always a big rally fan after years of standing in a ditch with my dad at the Circuit of Ireland!

I remember seeing Fisher in his... and fell in love with the noise. I saw a 1995 McRae... brand spanking new... rippin up the road when I lived in Bradford and my jaw hit the ground!! :eek7:

I then started working for a Nissan dealer back in 1998 and a customer brought in a new 98 Irish WRX for service... got to take it for a spin.. and to this very day I can still remember how it felt... the driving postion... the noise... the smell...the performance.... the feel of it!! Fell in love with it in a amajor way and swore at that point I'd own one. Then in my late 20's I started looking for an early 70's 911 with the intetnion of running it daily... running costs where a major downfall with it and instead I decided to try to buy/insure myself on an Impreza. Bought my 98 GT555 back in 2002 and never turned back.

Got bored with it within a year though and saw a V6 Type R with 18k kilometres on it and had to have it.... drove it and couldn't believe the difference between them. :shock2: Put a deposit on it... and seller vanished with my cash... so found another quick smart with 30k kilometres on it which I still have along with the wagon! I'll never sell the Type R... and will only probably add to collection with S1 Legacy... an early 95/96 Impreza RA... and a Blob at some stage!!

I've driven Evo's, Skylines, GTIR's, fast Fords and 1000cc Sportsbikes etc.... nothing comes close or ticks all the boxes like a Subaru!! :subaru:

don't real have much of story how I ended up - basically got sick of not being able to drive the M3 when it was snowy/icey out ! but moreso got sick of paying 1600euro in roadtax :hammerhead: snapped up a white bugeye, and the rest is history !

Always wanted an impreza, they always had such appeal, from rallying with McRae and Burns to just watching one go down the street with my mouth open at the noise of it. So I finished college, got a job and 3 months later, got a loan and went to see what I was going to buy. Couldn't afford an impreza at the time, nor could I afford the insurance on one either. B4's were only just starting to make a mark in the country and there weren't many about at the time which really appealed to me so went and bought a '99 B4 for €14k, seems like astronomical money now but it was a bargain at the time. Loved it and kept it for 4 years until deciding I wanted to finally upgrade to an impreza. Spent 8 months looking for a clean V-Limited type r as I wanted something special but with none to be found, I bit the bullet and went and bought a Spec C. Delighted to finally be in an Impreza and no plans to sell. Hoping that when we buy our own house, I'll have space to add a limited edition classic impreza, or else a series 1/2 legacy.

some scum bays broke into my house and robbed my m5 so after the insurance paid out i was lookin around at m3s but couldn find a clean one and came across the sti and was all down hill from there to the dark side :icon_biggrin:

Watching Colin mccrea in rally's on TV as a young la always had to have one!!! Had my e36 m3 Evo
For sale and started looking for swaps as we just had a child I needed more doors!!! Seen the ra on done deal and drove to Sligo and swapped the m3 for it... Came out 6 days later to find it was stolen!!! So bought a mr2 turbo and swapped that a year later for my 96 imprezza.. Had that for over a year till the fuel bills got 2 much for me!! Deffo on the lookout for an early one this year so I can classic insure it next year and just use it for a weekend/track car!!

I always idealised the B4's wen I was at school, used to be a Blurble one at my local fire station on bronze OZ's.

Then one day I was on quinns website getting comedy quotes in my mums name on silly fast cars, realised B4's came back at normal prices, tried my real details, an it was only 300 more than my Citroen

So I hopped online and found the cheapest I could find (it was the tale end of the good times) a 00 auto, no tax or test, chaved up to the nines, unwantes PX and drove down to swords with a pocket full of cash and drove home in my B4

And what a nightmare it has been haha

It's nuts how much people payed back a few years ago isn't it!

And for no good reason than idiots would pay it, heard a tale of a dude who bought a Jap S14 for 18k! And it was pretty stock, importers were cleaning up weren't they

My dad bought the equivalent 30k land rover in England for 12k, drove it here for 6 months on English plates and Insurence then registered it for free

My B4 was up for €4600 at the time and that was crazy cheap

Now you see lads selling ropey ones for sub 1k

I paid 8500 for my gold b4 in jan/feb 2008 keep it for 9 months and sold it for 8700 just before things went bad. I was lucky

I nearly paid 30k for that V6 type r back in 04... Infairness it was 1 UK owner from new... Dry stored and had 18k kilometer on it.

i need more sensible car!

Nah really! :cuckoo:

I had a 400hp skyline, but it just raped me and stole all my money ( stilll love and miss it now :icon_cry: ). It was off road for a year. then when i realised that i cant stand to drive 1.6 98 ford mondeo for 500eu and i cant afford to put it back on the road i sold skyline. a had a small list of more sensible cars and Subaru was on that list. I always loved the sound of subarus and that rally heritage. If did wanted to go for subaru i wanted it BLUE with Golden alloys. nothing else!!! I DONT CARE!!!
So i test drove on in killarney. It was a blue one with golden alloys. Wasnt in great shape with 140k miles on it. lots of dents, scrapes, mechanical faults. ( fresh 2 year nct though.... :ponder2: ). So my friend took it for a spin ( he is mechanic ) and i sat in pasanger seat. After a quick run i just felt in love and knew that i want subaru and nothing else. So agreed on lower price then asked due to all the faults and shaked hands on it. i told i will pick up car tomorrow. Half way home seller called me and asked for more money... needless to say i told him to and fu*k himself.
few days later Billy droped the price on his Blob. I asked him to throw some proper pictures and felt in love with it. few days later i brought blob back home to cork!

oh yeah, the fecking thing is RED and BLACK alloys, no spoiler!!! :cuckoo: :multijump: :cuckoo: :multijump:
