Morning all,

Anyone know the approx weight of an Impreza engine and a 5 speed gearbox....?

I'm hoping to drop the lot out of the Type R soon as one piece and then split it when it's out on the ground... and I'm in the middle of planning the dolly I need to build for it and want to be sure I get the strength of the dolly right. :ponder2:

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Cheers,

J...

I've search for any info and found nothing if put the question up on SubaruIreland.com incase theres no one here with any info.

Cheers lads... I'll be stripping ancillaries off before it's dropped.

I reckon the gearbox has to weight more than 50kg.... they're a big ba*tard of a yoke!

Need to find out exact weight of box!

:ponder2:

I moved one once and was surprised that it wasn't as heavy as it looked. It was a comfortable lift for two people so 78kg would sound right. I would have said lighter. The other fella must of had the heavy end..

A euro pallet will hold the weight of the 2 no problem

Sourced this out of work Ken... even better again than a euro pallet as it's got wheels!

It's max weight limit is 500kg too... so no concerns over it holding!

It'll do the job rightly!

Cool, that will do the trick... Just wondering will you find it hard to crack the gearbox away from block when all is out on ground, sometimes they can be right fookers
Wonder should you semi split them in the car first????

I had thought that Ken too.... gonna crack eveything loose to begin before it's dropped as it's all so easy to get at at the moment with it up in the air!
