Hey all

Just wondering when it comes to mileage, how high is too high??? :ponder2: :ponder2:

I know of a 1999 Subaru Impreza STi UK for sale but it has 180,000 on the clock, am i right in thinking thats too high saying as I have done 20,000 on my car which i only have owned for a year???

Thanks lads and ladettes!!!!

Bit high for my liking to be honest. Keep looking, plenty more out there , just my opinion of course , its your money

Well it's 10 years old so it's about average mileage.....

I'd check what type of service history it has - has it ever been re-built - etc etc

It also depends on what type of mileage was put on it (as in motorway or city) as if most of it was put on sitting in 5th on the motorway it would be more preferable....

I wouldn't let mileage put me off if it's a well looked after car

didn't think the sti uk arrived until 02 ? and thought it might have read in miles rather than kilometres ! i'd reckon its a jap import me self , check if its been mapped , lots of good cars on sale here that have been well looked after by lads that know what der at ,

Depends on the price would be my opinion - if the timing belt's been done and there's a good service history you could get another few years out of her if you only do 20k a year.

I'm so far up to 240,000 km/s and still going strong! (96 Legacy).

The 99 UK spec car was called a 2000 turbo. She was a UK only spec car with the JDM version been a WRX.

She's a UK spec car as far as I can see. If she wasn't she'd have a fog light added to the car on the rear. Looks nice though.

Cheers lads!!

Thanks for the advice

I think I might leave it and wait for the right one to come along

I'm in need of a :icon_jook: tonight

Going back to your origional question....
how high is too high depends on how its been treated and looked after

200,000 motorway miles serviced every couple of thousand miles wouldnt worry me as much as 25,000 miles flat out everywhere usually at or on the red line and not properly serviced or looked after......

Regarding cars that have been in england all there lives,
England are very quick to salt/grit the roads, Hence cars rust so much quicher than there Irish counterparts!

Regarding safe mileage
Impossible question to answer I'm afraid,
I suppose lower mileage limits the chances of abuse, But no way to know if she ever ran low on oil, or driven unmapped!
So simplest thing to do would be to take the car to a specialist, and get them to do a Thorough check!

High mileagh puts some off but are u not better seein the proper mileage even though its high cause there a lot of cars out there clocked. I bought mine last year wit high miles but had a full service history wit it i think u can tell a lof from drivin the car as 2 how it was minded i took a chance and so far so good touch wood but its all down 2 wat u want and can afford i think
