How much money have you lost when selling a car, and over how long??

A few lads aree trying to sell cars at the moment (poor ba**ards)
And it looks like anyone wanting to sell at the moment is going to have to take a big hit on price,
I have never done well selling a car but I'm a soft git who doesn't haggle,
I'm just interested to know how you guys have got on in the past!

I bought a 00 1.4 astra for €17K in 2001 and got rid for €9K a year later,                    €1,500 per month
I bought a 98 jap forester turbo for €13K in 2003 and sold it for €8K three years later  €135 per month
I bought a 01 Forester sti for €17,500 in early '06 and sold it 15 months later for €12K  €366 per month

I'm never selling the my '06 forester sti so I'll never knowt I imagine if I ever do sell it I'll be looking for around €1,000,000

paid 42k for my volvo s40 2 years ago and volvo looking for 22k with mine for a new one!!!!..thats 10k a year lost!! :angry1: :angry1:

paid 27k for new 2004 pug 307 hdi and sold in 2006 for 13k......
paid 10k for 01 corolla in 02 and sold in 04 for 11k... :wazzup:

bought 02 corolla in 06 for 11K, sold it in 07 for 13k
bought 91 GSi cavalier for 2600 in 07 sold it for 3k in 08
thats the main ones, the scoob i bought for 6k and not lookin to sell
 
Haven't lost any money on cars i've imported. Made €2k on a GSR in 6 months, bought a crash repair Supra tt and made about €4k after buying parts etc. Luckily :thumbsup:
 
bought a new 1.6 impreza in 00 for 12k sold in 02 for 7.500
bought a 95 wrx in 02 15k sold it in 05 for 11k
bought a new legacy in 05 for 32k sold it in 07 for 25k
bought a new legacy in 07 for 32k sold it in 08 for 24k
bought a new estate legacy for 35k in 08 and will have it for life by the looks of it cos its worth about 22 at the moment .its some waste of money when you start counting it up .24k in 8 years gone :angry1: :angry1:.you could buy some car for 24k now .
 
205gti bought for 4,000 pounds, think it sold for 3,500 pound.

205 1.1 bought for 1,500 pound, brother crashed it for me, dumped.

205 1.4xs bought for 800 pounds, i broke it and it got dumped.

205gti bought it for 1,700 pounds, crashed it, buried it.

e30 318 bought for 4,500euro put 4,000euro into it, sold it for 1,500euro.

sti bought it for 15,000euro, put 8,000+ into it, and if i sold it now for 10,000euro.

Spent 40,000, Made back 15,000, I would be a at a loss of 25,000+ :hammerhead:

1996 levin bought for 5300,traded against 1995 s14
1997 glanza bought for 5900 = €800 for alloys,probably get around 4 for it now
1995 carina bought for 400,sold 6 months later for 250
1995 s14 plus 3200 = 1998 integra type r
took back first 1996 levin as trade in against ITR + 3200
sold levin 6 months later for 4500

you made a nice profit on the levin and glanza :icon_surprised:

1st car a 00 opel corsa bought it for 5,500 euro and spent another 3000 euro modifying it, its at home now with the steering gone in it and cant be used anymore so lost a lot of money :icon_sad:
2nd car my impreza type r i bought it last year for 9000 euro and i will keep it for a long time :subaru:
 
Bought my van new in April 2005 for 16500euro
Sold it in October 2008 for 4850euro

Bought my Toyota Glanza In January 2007 for 7000euro and spent about 1500 euro making it faster.
Traded it in against the Impreza in September 2007 and got 5500euro for it
 
MY03 STi bought for €34000 sold for €24000 a year later.

MY00 STi TypeRA Bought for €16000 sold for €12500 7 months later
 
Seems toyotas are the only motor not breaking lads hearts

lost very little money on cars (except for the 1st one) which i bought off a dealer
since then (2001) lost only maybe 2-3k altogther on 6 cars
actually made money on the stolen legacy even with indurance excess
 
bought a jag xj sport for 44k, 1 yr later sold for 24k. The best car i have ever had but the most unreliable car in the world!!! Bought a 05 legacy demo for 30k, now worth 10k with 150,000 km!!!
 
I'm not going to loose anymore by just keeping my car now.

I've lost far to much over the years.
