How much power is to much

not necessarily as my gt35 is not as laggy geogans hks2835

Yes looking at comments online it appears the hks2835 is not the best turbo at all - it's an old model at this stage isn't it.

Pretty much.it was new in 08 andwhen fitted to my car took ages to spool then came in with a bang.I didn't really like it at all.shud n in mint condition all d same as I had it rebuilt before I sold it to warraster

Interesting. Didn't know he got it secondhand here... well if by kicks in you mean peak torque, it hits that at 5000rpm... but once it hits this there is an almost straight line 270ft/lbs torque all the way to over 7500rpm. Before this upgrade the old turbo (i presume a standard one) hit peak torque at about 4700rpm of 280ft/lbs but then drops all the way down to 190ft/lbs at 7400rpm.

I wonder did you have all the extra needed stuff on your car that warrster put in this when he installed the hks? - because i have a suspicion it may not in current configuration be as "laggy" as when you had it. Did you have a dyno run done when you had it on your car so i could compare with the one i have?

Was it an expensive job to replace it for gt35? And do you think that's still the best turbo right now? Does that still give as much top end power as the gt2835 once it kicks in? Would be interested in a pic of a dyno run of the gt35 if you had it too.

Exactly....the only cars the really make big power low in the rev range are big engines with super chargers...every car needs to be worked

And diesel engines ... the fiance's 2.5 Audi A4 has way more torque in the low rev range than my STI. That's just the way they work with the high compression...

the twin scroll set up came off my car along with the hks induction kit,i refreshed the turbo before selln it on and steve didnt drive it hard at the time due to slipping clutch so unabused,

i see if i can dig out some graphs for the hks2835 and stick them up im in work at the min so cant check anything,

not sure what you mean did i have supporting mods and if not thats why laggy when i had it?

billet gt35 rotated is around gbp1200+plus vat depends on what your looking but the billet gt35 is the most common turbo id say for 600\700+ cars

By supporting mods I just meant the twin scroll manifold, the sports cat milltek exhaust etc. things that help the turbo suck in and blow out more efficiently - didn't know you sold the manifold too. Yes he already got rid of the HKS intake when I got it (it let too much dirt in!), and I replaced standard filter box with K&N typhoon intake.

So what kind of power does your car with gt35 have now then? Sorry I don't even know what you have...

ull need to pop along to the r/r day nxt month!!

The fact that you haven't got it mapped to suit a different induction kit probably doesn't help with your lag Geogan.

is the a twin scrool sports cat aswell?would that make a difference

Sorry? Are you asking if it has a sports cat as well? Yes a Milltek one - less cells than normal cat, less restriction. Probably doesn't help much with turbo spool up but does get exhaust out quicker so might do slightly.

no i asking is the sports cat twin scrool?and can you mix and match a twin scrool turbo with a normal down pipe or sports cat?what happened the hks twin scrool down pipe?that was supplied with the kit i sold warrester?

You got me there :dontknow:. i presumed it was Milltek down pipe with sports cat. It could be your HKS one though. I haven't looked at it closely any time car was on ramp. Was the HKS a decat or what? Was there anything written or stamped on it to say HKS? Did you supply the rest of the Milltek then?

no just the twin scrool conversion turbo,headers,downpipe,sump,dipstick...im puzzled if you say u have a sports cat???
look through this link shows twin scrool downpipes would be similarhttp://www.google.ie/search?q=hks+twin+scroll+downpipe&hl=en&prmd=imvnsfd&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=nZtvUOGuII66hAfnkoG4Dw&ved=0CFoQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=675 ...think you need to check what you actually have, the experts will be able to answer this can a normal open mouth down pipe be mated to a twin scrool turbo ? if it could would spool be reduced and make for a shite set up if the sports cat you think you have is not twin scrool is it best to remove it

alot of shite there, gone waaaaaaaaay off topic hahaha

Well at least we got your informed thoughts, opinions and information on the original topic then... :cuckoo:

Here's a dyno printout for the HKS GT2835 on my car from 2009. Was it you that got this done Animal Spec C when you installed it?

This illustrates what I mentioned in previous posts about not reaching peak power until way up top of RPM range which you would never normally use on a normal road drive. The overall peak torque RPM range is very good though with this setup reaching it at about 5000rpm and keeping it this high way up until over 7600rpm. The thing I would be confused about though is this - since torque is constant in this range and this is what gives you pulling power than what is horsepower involved in and what affect does this increasing from 260 to 360hp in this range actually do? Don't know this answer myself...

I also have a pre-install dyno from Scooby Clinic if anyone wants to compare them,.

On topic enough?

@geogan i dont think there is anything to be worried about tbh,if you made peak power earlier and was falling off then i wouldnt be unhappy ur making bhp all the way to limiter, torque is holding and only dropping a bit towards the end but would have expected 300+...id expect260/ 280 on std turbo..

mine was on a 2.5 i guess you have a 2.0?so cant really compare as mine would have been spooling earlier anyway,i cant figure out which is which at the min as i have loads of graphs or different engines, turbo set ups ect...i can post it up when i figure out which was the hks turbo but dont know how revelent it would be i engines where different.

stick up preinstall aswell
