Hi Folks,

Looking to get a spare key cut for a Forester 2002 import - it only came with one - have tried a key cutters and they tried a few times but never fully right. They said that I would need to get the specific key code for their machine as it cant read it properly - probably worn slightly after use.

Did a search on this and found a thread with some info on getting a key cut (https://isdc.ie/forum/threads/2498/) but doesnt mention about key codes.

Considering its an import Im a bit lot as to where to turn but hope someone may have had this come up before.

Any info / advice or links is greatly appreciated.

Regards

Victor.

Cheers for the reply lads.

Narked - was your Forester anm import?

Just hopng it wont be a problem due to it being an import. If chassis number has to be given it'll be a japanese number.

Have given a call to dealer in Dublin - they said theyd have to check with Subaru Ireland but a set of locks etc will run to around 600 Euro.

If I can get a key for 90 Euro - not too bad compared to 600...

Hoping someone had a smiliar issue with an import...

I had a 98 sg5 Forester tubro, a 01 Forester STI and now a 06 Forester STI!
I had savage trouble finding a sutable shaped key to get it cut! for the first one
But a crowd on the sallins road in naas sorted it for me for the last two cars! Clegg's locksmiths!
Best of luck with her!

Dan, Nice with the list of Foresters - couldnt stretch to a new shape so opted for the 2002 - much difference between the 01 and 06? Id say so...

mac mac - Just pmd you there - any help is appreciated.

narked - hah, can understand!!

The 01 STI feels alot smaller! even thought they are more or less the same size!
And the 06 STI is alot quicker, even when standard! And the interior of the 06 is alot more modern!
Both great cars!
How's yours going for you?
Dan
