How you cleaning heavy soot off exhaust tips?

I reckon that's the AdBlue after corroding the finish on the tips. If you zoom in on your photos you can see the pitting from the urea eating away.
 
Your dead right on the pitting John, there's some seriously stubborn marks and pitting, but no adblue in this car, but they're so small, the marks, I can't make out if it's indented or outdented lol I was half thinking a bit of elbow grease would flatten it but the more we tried, the less I'm sure.
