Howdy Folks

Just though I'd do a quick introduction. I was scouting for information on a new (to me) car and thought it'd be rude not to say hello!

I've just picked up a rough looking '02 Legacy wagon for very small money. It's a basic 2.0 so it won't be setting any records for speed or excitement but it'll do everything I need to to for the moment.

I've spent the last 15 years messing around with boxer engined Alfas so while this is my first Subaru, it feels very familiar to me. Hopefully getting to grips with it won't be too steep of a learning curve.

Looking forward to learning the forum and with a bit of luck, becoming more involved as get involved as I get the car up to an acceptable level.

Fluffy.

Welcome duff,

1.6 and 2.0 are very similar to the old lancia engine, what alfa models did the flat four engine come in.

best of luck with the legacy

Thanks for the welcome,

The boxer layout was in the AlfaSud, Sprint, 33 and the early 145/6's. I had a Sud for a couple of years and a 146 briefly but still have my 33 parked up waiting for some TLC.

Welcome along fluffy  Should be no problem getting use to the subaru boxer engine not really that complicated after you get to know them

welcome along
had a ball of alfas myself including suds and 33 ,s
any pics of the 33 what year version is she ,1.3 or 1.5 or 1.7 ?
hard found around now
would love one again
all the best with the legacy

Thanks again folks. I'm sure I'll have some questions once I get stuck into the car.

The 33 is a '92, originally a 1.3 8v, but I converted it to a 1.7 16v, then converted that to run on carbs rather than Efi. I've had it for 15 years now and have done so much to it that it's like triggers broom at this stage.

And for shits and giggles, since it's a subaru forum, the pigpen:

Its grotty but I bought it with my eyes wide open.

:icon_biggrin: triggers. Broom what was it 5 new handles and 8 new heads same brush :icon_biggrin:. Legacy looks good man

Quick Update:

Haven't been posting here as, to be honest, the Legacy hasn't missed a beat since I got it. I couldn't source a decent set of replacement bumpers so ended up stripping, filling and rattle canning the originals. Not ideal but after a good polish yesterday and Im pretty happy with the results, considering what I started with.

Once this one is dead (it wont last forever, it already has 146k on it) Ill definitely be getting another one. But hopefully, one with a bit more poke.

Belts and clutch will be on the cards soon enough. I'm sure Ill be looking for some tips at that stage!
