StiBrian and Nick spec c were kind enough to take a detour on there way to the rallycross today so I could check if a spec c defuser would fit my car!(a bit of custom bracketry)
Anyway after I had a look at nicks defuser and brians New BIG brakes, I cheakily asked if I could have a shot of nick's car, I have been itching to have a spin since I heard that STI Tuning got 360lb/ft out of a 2litre,
Now I can only compare it to my car, which has a big slug 400+lb/ft at 3100rpm that literaly comes out of nowhere so the power delivery as the revs climb is 1K-2.5K waiting, 2.5-3K good boost but mainly anticipation and noise, and then Whack from 3K to 6.5K then change gear, The gears are longer in the forester but I dont have the revs
The spec c spooled in much the same way, Only the power comes in much smoother, BUT still starting to make meaningfull boost by 2.5K (It's a 2 litre) and she builds strongly from there on up to 8,000rpm    I have laughing smilies there because that's what I was doing every time I threw another gear it her, as I said she has shorter ratio gears but she has the revs to work them, I also quickly grew to love the "ripping" (equel length manifold) exhaust note, Perfect power delivery, Even pulling away from a garda checkpoint I couldn't help rev her on a bit,
Handling wise, she is about as firm as mine but does feel a fair bit lighter than the foz, But she feels heavier at the same time (low, wide and planted) with heavier steering!
Quite hard to unsettle (and I did try) she stayed planted and drove on, where I can throw my car into that corner in the same way and I would have a bit of a fight on my hands!
I suppose because she's that much heavier and a bit taller!
I can predict how traffic light duel would play out, I imagine I would get off the mark quicker and maybe some way through 2nd gear, (giving me some false hope) but then the revs and gears would catch me and scream on by! And I wouldn't mind because it would be great to listen to driving by at full chat!
So Fair play to Brian for calling over and Nick for trusting me with his motor! Thanks
Dan
