Lads can anyone advise on the import tax that would be applicable to a car worth 5300 euros?

i.e. what do i have to pay to get a car out of the docks...........VRT can come later

Cheers,
Gary

I've heard too many rumors about this to comment, You ned to get someone who knows for sure

Hello Lads,

Ex-Eu import tax = 10% of purchase (plus the shipping price)

Vat is @ 21.5% (On the above combined price)

Then onto VRT, which is up to the revenue :ponder:

There is a small customs clearance fee also, your shipper will advise on this

I hope this helps

Cheers,

Michael

Yup reckon the UK is the way to go,some amount of quality impreza sti's on pistonheads.com some JDM one's too.Anyway all for another day.

you would pay VRT which is anything up to 30% (depends on emissions) of the value of the car. Thats the Open Market Selling Price of the car in Ireland, not the price you paid for it.

As for 'import tax' - don't know what you mean by that and as for VAT its not payable unless there is under 6000 km's on the clock. VAT is paid on a car once and once only, be that in the UK/Japan or where ever.

Vrt is 36% and re the Vat, he is referring to a car that was imported from Japan which is subject to import tax, vat and vrt as outlined by Michael above.
