impreza 97 type r wont start

Sunday Drivers
well lads,i went out to the shed to start my 97 type r impreza like i usually do once a week, but this time for the first time in years she wouldnt fire,im thinking straight away its a fuel issue because i took off the feed pipe coming from the filter and noting is coming through when i put the ignition on. then i took it off at the pump, still noting.

and yes there is fuel in the tank :)

now if memory serves me right the fuel pump made a distinctive noise when i put the ignition on??well if it did,it doesnt now.

i was wondering before i spend money is there a common electrical issue maybe stopping the pump, faulty relay/wire etc?

one more thing is there also a feed pump down the tank area at the back of the car?

any help would be appreciated

thanks guys,

There's only one pump down in the tank.. Could be a relay stuck, (it's deep under the dashboard) or the pump failed.
Would be best to check if there is current flowing at the connector to the pump using multimeter.

thanks for the replies lads,il get the multimeter out so,
i actually though that cylinder behind the filter was the pump.
it has an immobilizer fitted, never had issues with it,but i have a separate key to turn it off so il chance that 2moro.

are pumps expensive lads?would i be better off with a walbro while im at it?

cheers

Pumps are around 100/140 or so not that expensive . If you can't hear the pump prime and there's power at it then it's fooked

turns out it was the immobilizer lads, cheers again, shes back purring away like always

Had a similar problem a few years back... immobilizer acted up while on the way to Belfast and left me stranded a long way from home. Had to disable the bloody thing to get pump back running.

Glad you got sorted.
