impreza cossie vs 22b vs p1 vs rb5

thats the worse test i have ever seen

to test the best of todays imprezas against a 10,11 and 12 year old impreza is stupid, why not put it up against the rb320, s204 or type ra-r.

i dont know how the 22b beat it under braking as the 22b only came with standard 4 pot brakes and as for the cone test, it was fair to short to see any difference

Hmmm.... 22B!

Pretty crappy handling test all the same! :icon_rolleyes:

i was kinda thinking the same. when i got it in the email i was kinda have expecting some kind of top gear testing and some throwing the cars around the corner..... but once again i was let down. :icon_cry:

I cant believe the 22b beat the cosworth on breaking :ponder: Does the new cosworth scoobie not have 6pot ap's on it?

Weight has a lot to do with it, the 22b is around 200kg lighter

They should compare the STI SC 400 to the EVO X400, Focus RS500 and TT RS. Now that would be a great battle.

I would have loved to have seen a Hawk eye type RA-R in that mix!
I think it may have had the CS400 beat in all aspects, if he bogged the start of the drag again!
Still, cool video, Love that 22B
I never used to appreciate them as much as I do now! Legend!

nice review. cant believe the 22b 4pots outbraked the 6 pot monoblock brembos :shock2:

as I said above its over 200kg lighter, huge factor in any test.

All the other cars where classic. Should have had the Bug prodrive style, Blob WR1 and the Hawk RB320 in there as they where also UK special editions. If your going to look for the best factory UK Impreza ever made it should include them.

If you're driving one of the best Imprezas ever made would you leave it on standard 4 pots, discs and brakes? I'd be very surprised if it didn't have, at the very least, uprated after-market discs and pads. Both classic imprezas featured had modified engines so there's no reason not to suspect their owners uprated their brakes also. There's no way standard 4 pots on oem pads and discs riding on 17 wheels could beat AP racing 6 pots on 18 inch 245 wheels even taking weight into account. This test allowed for too many margins of error and cant be taken seriously.

AFAIK the Impreza CS400 has not yet been officially launched as the one tested in last months EVO was suffering a misfire and was a pre-production model. Hopefully they will iron out the last few remaining glitches before it is launched as you just know it will be tested against everything to see if it can possibly justify its £50k stg price tag, which puts it up against some far more desirable and capable machinery.

weight plays a huge part in stopping distances..maybe it had uprated brakes but I still think under full lock the weight plays a huge factor. There's so many factors disk size, pad quality, tyre quality.
M cars manage fine with large 2 pots, alright they fade easily and are rubbish for the track but in a single full on stop they pull up as good as most cars...The fact is Both 4 pots and 6 pots lock your tires...so in cars with the same weight tiryes are the biggest factor.
In autocars 0-100-0 test the lightweights always pull it back under braking. Just looking at the figure now and the 22b is 300kg lighter.... that's 4 adult passengers

I agree weight is a major factor but if the 22b was on OEM brakes I really doubt it would have stopped quicker. Also afaik (I'm open to correction here and too lazy to look it up!) the 22b did not have anti lock brakes? Actually maybe its just the Jap ones and the Type UK featured in this test did. Oh I dont know! Anyway bottom line the CS400 is overpriced for what it is. The P1 is still the king as far as I am concerned.

BTW the first official car was delivered last Thursday to one happy camper in the UK so we should see the official road tests start to spring up from here on. My guess is that it wont get within 2 seconds of the TTRS at the Bedford Autodrome. Pretty sure EVO will have to retest it there as it had a slight misfire the last time but even so they said they it would prob only cost them a second a lap.
