Hey lads, i just bought myself a 00' legacy rsk-b4 from japan and wanted to try get as much info on it as i could like remapping, installing a turbo timer and dump valve, are all these things necessary to run these cars smoothly and if so how much would i be looking to spend, cheers.

Welcome to the club and congrats on the new Legacy.

I just bought a 2001 B4 5 weeks ago and love it.

Mapping you will need to budget around 1000euro. However, with the legacy it is not really necessary if you are keeping the car standard. Use E5 and octane booster and you will be fine.

You will also need to give the car a full major service when you get it. Budget another 1500euro for that. That included timing belt and tensioners

Get a Clifford alarm with built in turbo timer. This alarm is a MUST on these cars. Budget 800euro for that.

Dump valve is not necessary but if you like the noise then budget around 150 to 200euro for that.

Right First things first, Bring the car straight for a diagnostics check, Few traders on the site do this, It will show up any problems that may be hidden, Secondly only run car on Maxol E5, Turbo timer is not nesessary, Allot of people will say a waste of time as all you have too do is let the car idle for 15seconds too twenty seconds before switching off, Dump valve not necessary unless you plan on modifing the car with lots of power.
Mapping, yes most will advise a map for the car as it will reduce the V.O.D (Valley of Death) (Type into search and you will find out) and it will prevent the car from detonation keep your mind at ease,More people will be along and explain mapping better. if you do not wish too map the car then get a knock sensor Bout €150.
Get a good service done, Change all fluids, Belts if they need it, Plugs, ask Any of the traders on here and they will sort you out,
Best of luck and ask all the questions in the world

thanks for the replys lads, so were would be the best place to get the clifford alarm with built in turbo timer and to get it remapped???
the car has 50k mls on it so ill definitely be getting it serviced before i do anything else, i didnt realise it would cost so much to get the car going proper but im sure it will be worth it

A few lads including mysely got clifford alarms off MDS at beside cherry orchard hosp in Ballyfermot/Palmerstown

very good job done on mine i was happy want to have around 600-700e

very well worth it defo go for a clifford

cheers .Mark  :subaru:

AAA systems are good for the clifford and sometimes throw the turbo timer in free
650 euro for the clifford 650 mark 2, but if ur willing to travel i spoted a crowd in
the uk the same alarm fited with remote start 400 sterling, and they will travel to
meet u so the boat over to holyhead and they meet u, at the time i got my alarm with the extra sensers
+ remote start 1100 and to fit remote start at a later stage would have been 1200
worth thinking about, but not sure how after service could work out
