Info Wanted on Blue Type R 98D77380

Hi lads,

Hoping some of you may know some prior history on 98-D-77380 thinking of taking it as a trade in on something I have for sale at the moment, apparently it's just had a rebuild

-manley forged pistons and rods
-acl race bearings
- steel head gasket
- roger clarke baffle sump
- brand new subaru oil pump
- equal length headers
-rays te 37s
- defi gauges
-braided brake lines
-cusco coilover
-Turbo timer
-HKS exhaust
-Cusco Roll cage not fitted to come with it


Above is the spec I have been given on the car, will be giving it a good once over on a 2 post but any info would be good.



 
Am I right in saying this is a version 4 with a version 5 front end if I remember chassis break down gc8e2dd is G=Impreza c=saloon 8 2.0 turbo e model year 97/98 2= 2 door D = sti type r /ra and d = 5 speed dccd which would make it a v4 as v5 is late 98/99
 
Yeah its defo ver4 with v6 rear spoiler and frontend. I didn't see this car before.
 
He has it up on donedeal for 7500 if I take it in it will be going back up at €6250 wondering is it worth that sort of money hard valued now as no middle ground type r's seem to be dogs for small money sub 5k or really good ones going for big money
 
I know the owner of it, he took it as a p/x for his Ae86 Coupe,
He works in Subaru, car only got all the engine work this last 2weeks! He was selling it as soon as he got it and I was goin to view it but he changed his mind to keep it and forged it , now a car has come up he wants and that's the only reason it's for sale,
 
Check the front wings if they've been painted. Along where the wing is bolted to the chassis in the engine bay, it should be a darker colour, not body colour. Also check the rear quarters for rust as if its had a smack there, it could likely be rusting. Open the boot, pull the side covers off and check the seams for rust.
 
Thanks lads, will give it a good looking over on the 2 post, had few 2drs before so have a fair idea what to look for but nice to see if anyone has any history on it.
 
Don't think it will make 6250 for you, 5-5500 max I would think.. If it was A V5 with roof hatch it would make more... Regards the engine build.. Unless there is someone reputable after building it, it doesn't really mean much when selling..
I can't really see it in picture but I thought I could make out a red brake light in spoiler... If so then that's not a Genuine spoiler.
 
Thanks Ken, thats kind of the ballpark I was thinking I would take for it after a lot of donedeal bullshit. We will see how it pans out, if I take it in I don't mind driving it for a few months.
