Hey guys,

Today i got my new quote for my Scooby, it came in at e1250 which is down 400 from last year with 2 years ncb.

So i thought i would shop around....

Man i didnt realize how hard it was to get insured on these things. It must b a complete nightmare. When i first started out the companys where saying u have to over 25, now that im 27 they want me to b over 30 with 5 years ncb, even though im insured on my gf's car, the transit, dads jeep and a bloody truck.

So what im really saying is New subaru drivers who are trying to get covered i sympathize with you guys.

:subaru:

i was the same until a member told me about first ireland i was 21 2 months ago with a impreza sti type r v4 1522 euro tpft in my own name

rang quinn direct, hibernian, 123.ie, etc cant insure you have to be 25, or they tell you no because its a type r which stands for racing what sh1te :hang:

delighted to own one :subaru:

I rang arround this year axa said that my insurance wouldn't come down anymore with them!

I have a full no claims Bonus + no claims protection and am 32 and not one of the companies I rang would insure it!

They just said that they where not taking on new customers that drive these car!

I was amazed! I rang all the big companies in the yellow pages!

Had to stick with Axa!

Cost €1300 full comp!

First ireland quoted me 1,700euro fully comp on a 96sti(25year old,2Y NCB) Then the car i had my eye on was snapped up,so i got onto first ireland again about insuring a 99 wrx and it was a NO GO!

Why would they qoute me on an sti and not a wrx?? :ponder:

i bought the type r and my current insurer hibernian would only insure me 3rd party and wanted me to sent off copy of tax book and nct. went with 123.ie and paying 1900 fullly comp !!!! its madness 27 with 7 yrs ncb. i had gti golf (200bhp) insuerd with the girlfriend on it at 21 for 1000 fully comp. they are a shower of robbers

Doesn't a 123.ie policy have 4000 euro excess? May aswell not have have insurance IMO.

DaveR.....the fact the car was newer and worth more probably came into the equation.

They used to have.. apparently not any more.. I tried to get insurance from them 1 year ago.. and it was 4k excess then. Now they can give you a quote online and theres no such a huge excess defo.

are ya sure? Small print somewhere maybe?

i am with quinn direct and got my insurance when i was 23 with 3 years ncb, 1900 euro. plus on a provisional also.

its who ya know in these places because i rang the same place for the same car ten months ago and was told no.

its gettin harder to insure performance cars, mate i work with just about got insured on a dc5 integra.......which is n/a and thats because hes with them since birth, and his insurance is the same as mine. im with quinn direct on the b4 and its costin me 1040 euro a year. i thought that was mad money but when i see what some ppl are payin im not too bad

Yeah im sure they have 4k excess, because they are the same company as XS-Direct which is also 4k.
[/quote]

Correct guys I was wrong, at the beginning of the year they must have had a special offer, now they again have excess of 4k, bloody bast@rds
they also offered 3rd party option before, now you can only get comp. one .
you can choose the amount of excess down to 1k but that will cost you more on the premium though.

i finally sorted my insurance out last week 857 yoyo's for the year on the B4 im 26 with a full licence and four years no claims and my excess is 125 yoyo's im well happy it was 1,650 last year and that was 3rd party good old hibernian

I'm same age and I insure the b4 for 820 euro with quinn

Well i rang first Ireland this morning and they wanted e1500 full comp with 4k excess, i just laughed at them. He said he was going to ring me back though with a better offer.

insurance here is backwards-log onto xs direct website and do a quick quote-i got quoted 837 for an rx7 tt,1080 for a supra tt,and over 2400 for an sti,evo,DC5!!!!,and any ferrari/lambo/porsche/aston! which of the above are most likely to end life up a tree? Then when i rang my old ins to change from my old evo6 to the dc5-they just said no!!! Daft!!! Yet i see guys of 18 and 19 driving round in skylines and the like-I was told absolutely not on anything performance orientated before 25. I still pay 3200 for my trade ins but that covers my truck and yard and anything i drive or own. But i am 27 with 7 years no claims.

It's more to do with how popular they are with thiefs..evo's and scoobies and blacklisted everywhere in europe because with 4 doors high power huge grip their the perfect getaway car..wont be too long before the b4 is behind them..good few have been stolen.
Lot of lads you see are on mammies policy...anything from japland with red badge is pretty much loaded..mad you can insure a TT 330bhp rwd supra and not an evo..I had the same thing.
