I hope this isn't a re-post but it probably is. I just rang quinn direct to get a price on transferring insurance from my 1.6 to an sti but they said they wouldnt be in a position to insure me in either sti or wrx!! :comp26:

Has anyone else had this problem or what should i do??

Thanks

Insurance has gone mental lately.... Very difficult to get insured on any turbo car....
Did you tell them you already bought the car? Or you want to buy the car?
Ring 3 or 4 different companies and get quotes
Ill get onto a mate who is in insurance and see what he suggests!!!! Someone will get u insured...

I was toying with the Idea of changing brokers just before I got the Scoob..... NOT 1 Company would quote me and Im 27 with 7 years no claims and no points on my lisence in 5 years.....
Ended up having an argument with Travellers just to get them to give me a quote as i was already with them thru 123.ie They eventually gave me a quote and a really good 1 at that.

Think they have 2 insure you dave , My brother went from A 1.8 toyota celica to a 2.0 turbo rs focus when he was 21, quinn told him they couldn't cover him but he said he'd all ready bought the car and they then covered him ! :ponder2:

got his renewal no bother this year ,

best of luck man

if you buy the car they have to qoute ya...

im wit quinn, rang them bout yr ago for qoute on wrx and they said no, bout 3 monthes i checked online and got qoutes for wrx so just bought car.
then rang quinn and they said no, but i told them i had the car and they qouted me....

FIRST IRELAND.... cant stress enough of how good of a quote they gave me. :icon_pray: :icon_pray: :icon_pray: :icon_pray: :icon_pray:

i went arb and they charged me 3800 tpft. :dontknow: but there the only company that would insure me.

believe it or not quinn will insure you on a type r but not a wrx. strange i know :hammerhead:

and also quinn can turn you down if they wamt as there a private company and arent governed by standards as such. as witnessed by the fact they wont insure anyone from tallaght or clondalkin.

Thats expensive :icon_omg:

I got a quote for a type r impreza when i was going to buy one, i was 21 and arb were the only ones that would give me a quote for €5000 :cuckoo:

A member on here told me to ring first ireland and the quote i got that time was €1522 and im still with them since :653:

Insurance companys can do what they like, its terrible for anyone that cant get the car they want because of insurance reasons :angry1:

thanks for all the replies. Knew i was in the right place for an answer

basically, im 26 with full licence for 5 years, 5 years NCB and am mid policy with quinn so insurance isnt up till february next year.

i rang and said i had the car and wanted a price to transfer if i was to change over ,so just pricing and not actually changing over and was told that i cant get a price on wrx or sti as they cant provide insurance on these cars to me, high performance, blah blah. :angry1:

do they have to change over if i just buy the car or can they cancel my policy and leave me fcuked??

Ask to speak to a supervisor after they tell ya they wont insure it ,

tell the supervisor you got a quote online , thats what the brother done and it worked , gotta spoof your way thru it

does that mean they can cancel the policy if they decide to really stick to their bullsh1t? or do they have to transfer it over???

Paid 550 last year for comp with axa went up to 670 this year no reason given i am 33 with clean licence

i dont want to cancel insurance as id probably lose some of my NCB, just transfer to sti till policy is out. i'll probably change insurers when policy is up, but wanna know if quinn are obliged to transfer to sti even if they dont want to?

Got my renewal quote today , 1105 for same policy as last year which cost 750 or so last year, 350 in the difference !!!!! rang one direct and was told that insurance costs have gone up 30% since last year , after some givin out from me they dropped their quote to 700 with my girlfriend now on the pokicy , :hammerhead:
