Call them up and say "I want to make a permanent transfer of insurance". If you are a current QD customer they cannot say no. They may quote you silly but that is the luck of the draw.

dave did you try mcsharry foley in Sligo .. they used to be fairly ok insuring higher powered cars.. but as the lads said there I'd tell them its bought

Dont get me started about QD, i went to put the scooby back on the road a few weeks ago and rang them to reinsure the car.

They told me they dont insure that type of car and because i didnt renew my policy they couldnt help me. There a joke.

If you think you are being charged too much Under current equality law,
when you buy goods or services including financial services you cannot be discriminated against purely because of your:
age (big problem)
gender (big problem)
race
marital status
family status
sexuality
disability
religion
lifestyle (cause we like performance cars)big problem.
Insurers cannot refuse to give you cover, or charge more for any of the above reasons, unless they can show that the difference in treatment is reasonable and justified in relation to the risks involved. For more information about when it would be reasonable for an insurance company to treat you differently, contact the Equality Authority. You can also contact the Declined Cases Committee in the Irish Insurance Federation in cases where you feel a quote is too high or the conditions attached are so severe that it amounts to a refusal to give you insurance
me thinks the 3 points i added big problem beside are what is held against us ...

scooby turbo's post just sorted that all out,im with quinn direct,im 21 have a full licence n a 1yr ~NCB,but when i first insured my 95 wrx i was 20 n it was 3500,they have this loop hole thing that if you've bought the car they have to insure you on it,but you have to be taking out the policy, they wont give you a rough price or anything(hence me paying 3500 a year)ya have to take it out.but if you have already asked for a quote on that car they wont insure you.although i got quoted on a crx del sol and they told me i was too young to drive it,i bought one n the told me they couldnt insure me cos i got quoted on it n i argued with a supervisor n then manager n got a price of 1730!just ask to speak to a manager

my son went from a 1.6 levin to an sti he just rang quinn and told them he bought the car and wanted insurance and they gave him a quote and had it all sorted out in 5mins. but i do know his insurance is up in september and he has already rang around for quotes and nobody wants to entertain him he is only 21. i tought it was a form of discrimination not to get a quote but maybe im wrong on that. i dont think the recession is helping at all anyway because i even know some women drivers policies have shot up through the roof

This crack wit the insurance companies is gettin worse by the day i reckon ,

I sorted my Girlfriends insurane with quinn , she has no NCB , No named driver experience and only got her full license a few months back , and she's 20 years old ,

I was expecting somewhere between 1500 and 2000 to be about rite for first insurace ,

Got her a quote of 950 with windscreen cover breakdown etc etc etc

Couldn't believe it , total bargain in my opinion !

tried to see how much they would charge me , , 600 euro with 6 years no claims and full License for 8 , ( 1.0 opel corsa ) NUTS

How can that be right or fair ?

Proper regulation is required for the insurance industry and proper rules
