Middle Lane Hogs
Ok so lovely insurance renewal letter in the door greeted me on friday evening, was with quinn/liberty last year, went with them when i had my civic last july, when i bought my scooby at xmas i just transferred it over for an extra 90 euro. so €1200 altogether for the scoob we'll say. had one years NCB

letter came in and i saw €1150 now with 2 years NCB. :icon_evil:

just me or is this a f@@king joke... i know im 21 since march but its only a freaking 1.6 impreza :icon_hang:

so to say the least im going to shop around as i have 2 weeks before its up.
considering im not in the same league as 90% of yee with your 2l turbos and being a few years older than me, any recommendations on other companies i can try that might be better. PLEASE!!

TAX is up the same day - MISERY :new_puppy_dog_eyes:

the joys :cuckoo:

Re: Insurance renewal - misery!!

not being smart, but looks normal m8. Insurance companies are the biggest bastards to their own loyal customers. you should be lucky it did not went up!

i dont know about 1.6 , but 2.0 turbo subaru is imposible to get insured. have you tried chill.ie? britton insurance? 123.ie?

at 21 that does not look like a very bad insurance though... i payed double that at 23 on 1.8 406.

Re: Insurance renewal - misery!!

i was with quinn for a year on my 1.6 and same thing happened and i was 22 with 4 years ncb at the time , same thing as happened yourself then , got a crap renewal so went with one direct , then tesco then aviva the following years , (all underwritten by aviva) , and back with quinn liberty since 2010 , once you say impreza of any shape or form your screwed . and aged 21 they will ride ya unfortunatly for u

Re: Insurance renewal - misery!!

Heard a recent conversation on the radio where an insurance company were charging something like 20% more for exact same policy to an existing customer as to a newcomer . Reason was 'we have to try and attract new buisness' . Disgraceful practice IMO and advice never be loyal to insurance companys .

yeah i can see myseld ditching quinn/liberty for a few years too. grand to get your going when your 18/19 but after that they dont want you till your 25 or so going on other quotes i have heard for other people :ponder2:

il be busy on the phone trying to persuade call centre kids that its standard out and not a performance car :wall:

that is a joke alright.. why try and get new costumers when your forcing others to walk away :ponder2:

im guessing that other companies will include my 2 years NCB with quinn?????

Re: Insurance renewal - misery!!

Yea you will get a letter from Quinn with your no claims on it.
Went through it all. when your 18 your told be cheaper when 21, when 21 its 25, when 25 its 30.. never ends.

IMO i wouldnt expect any male at 21 to get a quote under 1k, even for a small car, Men in their 40's are paying 4 and 500 for normal cars.
Put a day to the side and ring around like a mad yoke,
Insurance is a fukd up thing, i remember being refused a quote by Hibernian, went into a broker and they got me the best quote i got, and guess the company it was with??? yep Hibernian.

Try the smaller brokers first if it was me

Re: Insurance renewal - misery!!

so did you tried chill.ie? i just entered 21 and 2 ncb on 98 1.6 subaru and got around 1.1k eu. try to enter correct details and then give a call, you might drop few quid again. try 123.ie too.

as last resort you cant just call back liberty and say: i just got a qoute for 850eu from X insurance. they can try and give you better qoute then. worked for me once.

Re: Insurance renewal - misery!!

and if you have a girlfriend with full license put her on the policy should bring the quote down a bit ,

STOP! i couldnt wait till i was 21 thinking it would drop but no, cant ever see it happening. yeah its a funny thing like that, they contradict themselves the whole time... one of my mates is also 21 and has a 04 civic 1.6vtec with 3yrs NCB and his is 950. same type of car i had before i bought my impreza. wheres the sense in that. :ponder2:

but yeah i think il loose all day tuesday to the phone. :comp26:

yeah that quote seems about right going on what i got back from quinn... :new_puppy_dog_eyes: il must try that and put in 03 1.6 impreza instead. but yeah i heard 123.ie can be surprisingly nice with quotes sometimes.

also yeah i think quite a few little lies may be passed around to a few companies in order to get a half decent quote :icon_blahblah:

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO +1 on this.

as soon as you get at least the mentioning of vagina in your details qoute goes down. even if she has only a supervisional driving license still put her up!

Re: Insurance renewal - misery!!

Only company other than Quinn to quote me when I had the 1.6 was Axa so try them.

Re: Insurance renewal - misery!!

ive my b4 with liberty and got a letter in the door 2 months ago for renewal, i rang them up and asked them if they could do any better.
i lovely lady rang back a half hour later with 200 off! 24 yrs, 3ncb, 4 bold boy points 550 tpft.
ask them for their best offer

Re: Insurance renewal - misery!!

dont see anything wrong with the quote as said its the normal for lads your age despite the car

Re: Insurance renewal - misery!!

RESULTS

To all the lads saying that this quote was about right, yee were dead right :icon_sad:

rang around today, 8 companies

my renewal with liberty was €1000, bet them down from €1150
123.ie - 1350
britton - 1030
no nonsense - 1055
AXA - refused point blank to listen to another word after i said ''subaru impreza and 21'' in the same sentence, lad didnt know that a 1.6 was 110bhp :angry1:
Allianz - exact same story as AXA
Aviva - Same again

heres the best: One Direct - had the same attitude as axa, allianz and aviva but after i got sick of companies saying this over a 1.6 impreza and just being completely ignorant to the words ''subaru impreza'' i had started to fight it out, in the end they said they couldnt provide me with a quote untill i drove 100 miles up to dublin so that they could inspect my car for any mods and for me to go under a 1hour practical driving assessment.

my exact words were , what the fcuk?
he said it was because i havnt been insurred on cars for longer than 5 years yet (being 21) and because the category that imprezas fall into, i gave up saying the numbers ''1.6 and non turbo'' to him :new_2gunsfiring_v1:

looks like good old liberty/quinn for another year :zzzz:

I'm 21 as well and i got a quote off liberty a while back on a 2l Impreza non turbo for i think just over 2000.
so i decided to see what the difference would be if i put my age up to 22 and it dropped to 1050 and i was delighted but now they wont quote me at all because they don't insure "sports cars" anymore. :wall:

Edit: sh*t thing is i have a 2l turbo sitting there for 3 years now with no chance of getting it insured for the next couple of years.

1000 aint bad llyod , its pretty much the going rate for any lad of your age on any 1.6 id imagine ,

mine is due next month , not looking forward to it
