Insurance! Who are you with????

I switched from Alliance(who I had been with for years) to AXA.
They were roughly €250 cheaper.Got quote through a friends wife who works there.
Was doing a bit of work in a AXA branch when I had the 1.6 and they advised they don't insure those cars as they were high risk :dontknow:

i got my renewal the other day to.

axa want 1300 for me and the misses, 200 up from last year, the glockenspiels have done this every fooking year. if i cant get it for under a grand the car is going.

Johnny... Unless you've had a claim of sorts your insurance should actually be going down at this point.

https://isdc.ie/forum/threads/26757/

I'd get onto them an threaten to contact the insurance ombudsman if they can't come back to you with a reasonable quote.... or explain why your premium has gone up. The BS excuse that premiums have gone up across the board due to an increase of robberys is absolute bollix. Your just being discriminated against because of the car. And as the above post says... lads are meant to have our premiums reducing this year due to a new EU ruling.

Or... Just go elsewhere and see if you can get it cheaper! Hope you get sorted. :subaru:

just off the phone with Aviva! they gave me all sorts of crazy discounts and got my fully comp quote for my B4 for €960!

my renewal from Quinn was €1140! result!!

:icon_nana: take that Quinn!

didnt declare my Tien Coilies though :snooty: told Quinn that yesterday when i tried to get them to come down and it went up over €100 :new_2gunsfiring_v1:

looks like avaia have a new customer! (which i am surprised about)

Renewal came today... Down over 100 quid to 630 with Quinn!

Is that fully comprehensive Jamie?

First quinn refused me this year whan I got the wagon back on the road, I said to the lad on the phone I was insured on this very car last year and I informed him it had an engine failure and could I speak to a supervisor, he put me on hold and came back and said that car is not nct'd so we cannot insure it.
I said its booked in and gave him the date and that I need insurance to drive it to the nct center, he said get a tow truck, at this point I hung up out of pure frustration.
Rang back 5 mins later, got a lovely northern girl on the phone, changed it over in seconds

Mine is €600 tpft with windscreen cover, 28 with full ncb

No... I gave up paying Fully Comp years ago Barry. As far as I'm concerned... in this country... your only paying for a disc on your window to be legit... otherwise insurance is a waste of time. If you are unfortunate enough to write off your car or have it stolen then you'll very likely to never get the full market value of the car off the bastards anyway. :angry1:

TBH though...every car I've driven in the last 7/8 years has been worth less than 3 grand... that includes my current wagon... so fully comp insurance is pointless as the value of the car doesn't outweigh the need for it. If I'd a 20/30k car I'd be more likey to go for fully comp.

Anyways... I've never had a bad crash and I've no intentions on writing it off!

That's me jinxed!

Jamie, did i ever thank you for my 4 pots you sent me?

if not thanks! the one i needed was refurbed with new pistons and seals and painted red and is now on the car!

the other one is on its way to Japan of all places

Think I will be going the same way.Only classed mine as a wrx even though my insurance policy is for Sti.No book value for car due to age etc.

Anyone insured with a UK STI have trouble getting a quote?

I'm looking around for 03+ STI's but I'm hesitant with getting a JDM because once I say it's an import to a broker/insurance co. the alarm bells will start ringing.

Just want to know how easy (or hard) it is to get coverage with a UK STI and what sort of premium you're paying? I'm 26 with 3 years NCB & licence

your probably goin to be lookin around the 1500 to 2000 bracket I'd guess that's if you even get a quote . I'm 28 with 9 years no claims and paying best part of 900 fully comp on an 2006 Irish sti

fully comp on the legacy €550 for myself+the wife with AXA. Went ahead with this+out of boredom a week later went online for quotes.123.ie offered same cover for €380 !!!!. Rang AXA back but direct debit already set up+payment taken. Will be shopping around next year+wont make the same mistake again. {it helps that i'm an oul lad of 39} !!!

it dont matter dave, you could've cancelled same regardless if they set up dd or not, they would've only charged you for the time you wore on cover that given that the policy was cancelled within the cooling off period.... just for future reference...
