insurance

This is fukin ridiculas!! Insurance is the law in this country and yet those :angry1: insurance companies don't give it to you! Sick and tired of them and their outragious quotes. If insurance was not compulsory I certainally would not have it! Would save a hole lot of money!

Mine is up next month but just tried there to see what I'd get.
So it's me (age 37, and herself named) on a 2007 rx wagon. I've attached a screen shot for ye to look at.
No points, full NCB.
I've no idea how ye can insure sti's.....!

I think I'd have to, Tommy, just looking at their quote there and they're not offering:
1. To protect NCB (Reason: I presume is 'cos they know I'm a great driver and wouldn't ever be claiming anyway)
2. Breakdown Assist (Reason: I presume is 'cos like it's a Subaru so there's no point)
3. Driving other cars (spot on, like why would I want to drive anything other then my great wagon?)
4. Car Replacement (speaks for itself, the car is irreplaceable)

Yeah, Lloyds know their customers, I'd be an ass not to go with these guys! :afro:

I've ask for Skyline in insurance company. Most say they won't insure. I'm 30yrs old and have 5 yrs claim bonus.
in quinn the say 2.5k for 3rd party...
so I just bought B4 RSK and I pay 650/year for open insurance type.
insurance companies are robbers. :new_2gunsfiring_v1:

@mac mac the site is Chill.ie, I've pasted their email at the end of this post. It's quite funny when you read it through to the end.

They've wasted my time and are trying to rob my money, but their quotes are so daft, it gave me a laugh anyway......

@scoobysub I'm with Glennons in Dublin and I think it was €540 last year, so hopefully it will be much the same this year. Herself has her own car so not really an option anyway, but thanks.

I just think it's a bit nuts at my age to be quoting me at over €2k for a car that is not even a turbo never mind an sti... :icon_blahblah:
I do acknowledge though that they did give me cheaper quotes than that, but those cheaper quotes are very basic insurance if you read the small print...

Adrian, even though your missus has her own car (and policy), you should still be able to put her as a named driver and it'll knock a few bob off the uote. Worked for me last year. Took €100 off my policy.

On a side note, got my renewal from AIB (Aviva) this month and they put it up to €720 so i'm now with 123 for €405 fully comp with no claims protection and all the trimmings. One advantage of the leggys!!

I agree. But if you have no claims, they won't insure your car. I had idea to keep both leggys I have, insurance company says - no. so I'm selling my 01:)

I did include her, Peadar, and those quotes are based on that...........I must be living in a dodgy place or something!! I can't think of any other reason why the quotes are so high.
I'll have to go back to a leggy.........

PS I only priced the car at 7k.......hardly had that much of a negative impact.

Just a small update........

I got an email from Chill.ie as below. Seems a bit odd, given that I didnt contact them about the other quotes. At least this quote is more normal.

Based on the information you provided,we are pleased to offer you a provisional quotation of €429.09 with KennCo Underwriting Ltd based on the following information:

· Car – Subaru Impreza
· Cover – Comp
· Area – Galway
· Drivers – Proposer + named driver
· NCB – Full

As discussed, this policy offers the following Key Benefits:

· Step back bonus protection
· Free breakdown assistance including home start
· Windscreen cover with no limit through preferred repairer
· Personal accident benefit up to €1270
· Medical expenses up to €130 per person
· Fire brigade charges up to €385 per claim

Subaru Impreza is a bit vague. I would like clarification on that before signing any policy documents. Good price though.

yes i have had a few like that, turns out it was for a 2L N/A impreza, and as soon as you say WRX or Turbo they say no, its wrong of them to assume the car you are asking for is what they want it to be

I what to throw my hat in to the mix here. I have a 01 B4 legacy it is down as a B4RSK legacy on the book and all and my insurance is 650 a year with FBD fully comp i am 27 with 5 years ncb. i know the legacy is not the same as the impreza but its still got 280bhp and 4 wheel drive still has the subaru rumble and cabin is better finished. I think its a option if you want some subaru power but dont want to pay 2k plus on insurance the legacy is the best car to start with

Once again i will say this-insurance companies pull their figures out of their arses,I transferred my insurance from 01 B4 valued at 5000 to 03 B4 valued at 6000 and what happened????? They had to refund me €60. How does that make any sense?
