Might aswell ask here as someone might have been in my position before.

Im looking at a blob eye STI for around may (aligns with my renewal actually) and wanted to get a general feel for what I could be paying.

First up my details

I'll be/have
24, Full since 08
4 years NCB
3 years Named Drving (still on the policy for some reason)
Currently with Liberty

Currently the policy is on a run around starlet GT for 560 TPFT
Previous cars of note were
MR2 Turbo (x2) Both were 92,paid €690 TPFT on the first at 21,second one was at 22 at €600 flat.
Trueno BZR @ 700 TPFT @ 22
Loads more vti, sir's and mivecs but roughly the same.

I was hoping for 1000-1500 TPFT, is this reasonable or am I way off?

I understand its extremely hard to gauge insurance and I've a seriously slim chance of shopping around for a quote but I know at renewal I can argue and (usually) get 100 to 200 off per year. I'd be paying in one go aswell so it should bring it down a wee bit.

Pretty much the way it would probably work out time wise. Generally I've never had a problem with insurance. The one time I did I went from an MR2 Turbo to a 1.5 EK3 to a 1.3 Glanza and back to a MR2 and it went 670/1300/1800/600.

you will have a good arguement with them when trying to transfer over to an sti lad , i was 27 when i bought mine with 8 years ncb and it was hard done but i got there in the end , was paying 7-800 at that stage down to 600 odd fc now

I always tell them I've bought and paid for it and never had a problem. I know through a friend who used to work there that only the quote manager present can give quotes out of the norm. Usually they say "1 minute" then come back with a quote, never had anymore hassle than that.

Honestly even at 1500 its more than I'd like to pay but for the right car Im sure it would be worth it,the car would still have to convince me

I've been told that any insurance company that have a chain of offices charge a higher rate of insurance. I switched from AXA last year to Nononense and saved E260 euro, now I am the wrong side of thirty which probably helps. Axa wanted E700 and I only paid E440 from Nononsense.

Insurance are like Drunk horses, never trust them.

for example I just got a renewal on my WRX few minutes ago. 909eu! I almost flipped, freaking 5 years with same company and they increased it by +/-100eu! Freaking nerdrage took over me. I called them Asap and they droped it to 699eu. Go figure....

Hey Shadow,your everywhere lol

Yeah Im leaning towards a DC5 at the minute over insurance and MPG and in a year or so have a look for a STI when i'm over the 25 mark. The black one that popped up on here is the one that I used as a "If one like that came up.." so the heads wrecked now lol

Dc5 harder to insure than an sti. I tried to transfer to one from an evo 6 back in 2007 and they flat refused.

I know a few guys around my age and younger insured on them for 1500 and below with the same insurance company as me so it shouldn't be too much hassle. Thanks for the advice though

If it helps I was 21 with 3 years ncb, I'm paying €1100. Coming from a glanza to altezza to the scooby.

Oh with Liberty

Buy it, Transfer over to impreza. No problem.
Don't even bother asking for quotes, cause they say they don't insure that type of car :nono:

I rang my company and said i was putting my old Subaru back on the road.
It went from 50.40 per month for the 320D M-Sport to 61.10 for the Subaru.
Not sure how that is compared to others but im with quinn-direct (sorry Liberty) 12yrs now with a 12yrs ncb aswell, and im 30.

so happy out!

I did that Mark and 123.ie wouldnt cover me. Some supervisor rang me and said that their underwriters simply just dont cover imprezas :( Even though I was with them for years, have the mrs car insured with them and my house insurance. I even threatened to pull the lot but they still wudnt give in. :angry1:
I had to go looking and Chill.ie were cheapest at 600... With them 2 years now and down to 450 fully comp

It's just as bad if not worse over here, I can genuinely insure a 911 turbo, 3 times the value and with an extra 175hp, probably 3 times as expensive to repair.. for cheaper....A good bit cheaper.
