Insuring 2 Cars ????

Niallyboy

Petrolheads
Lads my Scooby will be back where it belongs, in my drive soon

But here's my problem ................... Im now driving an Audi A6 which i want to keep as my daily
driver and keep the scooby for the weekends :smokin:

To insuer my scooby TPF&T is €2,000 ........that's ontop of €2,300 i paid already to insuer the Audi
due to loading from pending claim :icon_blahblah: :icon_blahblah: :icon_blahblah:

Basicaly it's too fooken expensive €4,300 to insuer 2 cars TPF&T, but if there was no claim
it would cost €600 aprox to insuer the Audi Fully Comp and Aprox €1,500 full comp for the scooby

So €2100 fully comp V's €4,300 TPF&T.............the bastards have the whole thing sown up.

Anyway I don't want to have my car sitting in my drive without insurance.
It's too expensive to insuer her at the mo.
and I can't get my old man to insuer her as he's not the registered owner .

Any help would be much appreciated

I probably will have to switch my insurance from the Audi to the Scooby and leave the Audi in the drive but i really wanted to drive both :dontknow: :dontknow:

Niall.

Unfortunately thats all you can do Niall.

I have my NCB on the Impreza for the end of the month and the frontera I had to insure third Party with zero NCB.

So €2000 for both on the road is what I got. Not far of what you been qouted had you had a no claims.

If I had no no claims it would be over €4000 to.

can you not just change over the insurance from the audi to scooby every weekend....or is that a hassle.

cant you change the ownership to you dad? and just go name driver.

Can you insure the scooby under your dad and then still be insured to drive it because of open drive on your own Audi policy?
As far as i know i can drive any car that is insured as long as im not the registered owner and i have the owners permission..

Thanks lads

I hadn't thought about getting insured under my old man
..............   I can't wait to see the look on his face

"Dad remember there about 10yrs ago i used to be insured under your name ........WELL guess who's lucky day it is .......... "

try first ireland ..they gave me a full ncb discount on a 2nd car, my sti (before it was stolen) all they wanted was a letter from my other insurance company stating what discount i had earned...this was the only broker at the time that would do this

Roadrage

due to an accident i had last june i have 0 ncb..my policy expires end of this month.. i got my renewal yesterday and they wanted 3031 euro... i rang them today and their reason for such a high quote is that i have a performance car.. i then insured my opel astra with them third party with party extension for 1200 euro... i can drive the scooby then weeekends but it will be in my dads name...as long as it is taxed and nctd i can drive it...

Niall,

I have 2 cars insured (the P1 and Passat).
Basically you have to start a new policy for the second car but if you have been named on another car they can take that into account.

So in my case I had my own policy (full no claims) and was also named on my wifes policy for the last 10 years (also full no claims) so they were able to give me the benifit from my wifes policy.... I just had to get a letter from her insurance company stating that I had been named on the policy and that I had no claims....

Hope this helps!

Alan.

With Quinn Direct you can drive any car as long as its not in your name, and is taxed and nct'd. It DOES NOT need to be insured by the other person. So in otherwords if your insured with Quinn (probably not)? You could just transfer ownership to your father and then you could drive it, without him even insuring it. However the car wouldnt be insured so you would be screwed if it got stolen obviously. I have two cars and two ploicies though.
