Interest in a Impreza 1.6 2004 any advise welcome

Hello all,

I was thinking of upgrading my car but only Subaru car only i get insurance on a 1.6 Impreza, as only 1 year no claim bonus.
Was wondering what thoughts people have on driving the 1.6s?
Any advise would be welcome as unsure if its worth trading up from my Alemera Hatchback 1.5

Im drivin a lovely white 05 1.6ts impreza wit sti interior and its my pride and joy.I have it almost 3 years now and never gave an ounce of trouble all it ever cost me was servicing costs which is great and dats after i bought it with a mere 15k kms on it and have 73k kms n it nw.I drive 650 miles a week which is almost 2 tanks of petrol bu 2 b honest its an absolutes pleasure 2 drive it handles great especialy wen d snow was on d roads over d winter d awd was a god send. Another plus is d looks u get off d ladies drivin dat car in2 college everyday is a pleasure ok it aint a 2.0 bu it keeps a smile on my face everyday il b sory if i ever sell her.

Is the reg 05 so ?
 
Great cars had mine for about 3 years and no major problems.

Dont put on induction kit.Caused problems with omissions and nct.

As long as its looked after shouldnt cause any problems

I used to have a '04 1,6 TS SW for 2 years. Loved it! The handling isn't comperable to any other 1,6 and I would argue about the fuel consumption. As average I got 8 L / 100Km. Last Year I dove it from Hungary to Ireland with a roofbox on and full with stuffs and She drank 9L / 100 Kms.
I think it's the very best 1,6 on the market but go for wagon :icon_grin:
 
Thanks for the advise. Waiting for the insurance company to open to see how much extra I have to pay.
Will get the car I say as always loved the Impreza car shape.

03 TS1.6 was my first Impreza had it for 3 years never had a problem. Yeh it will be a bitch on juice being a heavy awd 1.6 but cheap tax and insurance is a bonus. :thumbsup:
 
Hey I got the car in the end. Its a dream to drive and will have to wait another few years for a STI.
Petrol is not too much more then the old car but I have to fill up more as a smaller tank. €70 to fill the old car, €50 for the Subaru.
 
Best of luck with the new car. I First Subaru was a 2002 1.6 RX and I loved it. Had it was just a year though as the new model blob eye was lanched and I ordered 2003 1.6 RX but put that through a tree six months later. I have to say those two cars start my long love affair with Subaru and I've now had 7 to date in all ranges from a 98 turbo a 00 1.6 GL to a 00 type RA STi and a 03 STi to name just a few.

I'm looking at another one tomorrow hopefully when the garage gets it in so it could be number 8 for me.

Anyway you shouldn't regret it. Best of Luck. :subaru:
