Jap Import advice please.

Prodrive

Sunday Drivers
Lads I'm looking for advice on Jap import Impreza's. I'm saving hard for a Jap model or UK STI model, are the WRX imports 280BHP and are they considered to be an STI? Is there an STI WRX import or is this the same thing? What is the best Classic model to get ie, V1,V2, V3, V4, V5 or V6? I currently have a UK Turbo 2000, year 2000 and after asking loads of questions on modifying it, I've come to realise its probably cheaper to buy a WRX/STI. Are Jap version cars better than UK version cars. All advice welcome as usual and thanks to all for advice in the past.

If you are looking to buy in from Japan it is very very costly.

Example

Cost of car e2000
Shipping e1350
Transport to Port e200 say
May also be agent fee??

Total e3550

Arrive Ireland

Shipping agent fee e120
VAT and Customs area e1065
Broker fee e120
VRT area e720

Total e2025

So on a e2000 car your up area e5575 on plates landed.

There was not a uk/euro classic STi model.

What exactly it is you are looking for?

Was hoping I could buy an already imported car from here in Ireland. Obviously I will wait until I can get a decent car. I was wondering if there is a difference in UK/Jap Spec cars in both power and finish ie air con etc. That's a comprehensive list you compiled there davelegacy, that's actually food for thought if there are no good cars left here.

Ah i see.

Yes there are lots and lots of jdm imported imprezas 8 out if 10 classics for sale would be jdm imports.

What is your budget?

At that money better off buying the 02 one. But if your heart is set on a classic its hard to beat to drive

I have the Classic Turbo Sportwagon, the Classic shape Subaru have more character IMO. I won't be selling her as it gets a lot of attention where-ever I go, it was a bit of a gem find and my brother has warned me that he is next for ownership, I must post pics of the car up to the site. I did put some bits onto as I did want to mod it BUT as a few of you mentioned in previous posts and quite rightly so, its cheaper just to buy an STI. I have read about the work BazGF8 that you put into your GF8 and the story behind it. Ideally its a GF8 STI that I want as they have a better presence on the road IMO but if the price is right I wouldn't say no to a tasty GC8. Are all Jap imports 280bhp?

No not all but most Sti versions would be

BazGF8 are you saying that some of the Jap import WRX might not be 280bhp? If I can get some clarification about Jap cars over UK STI that would be great. I was on Pistonheads looking at cars and JDM came up a lot. Is THIS the Jap equivalent to UK STI???? BazGF8 is what exactly is your model of GF8, is it UK or Jap import?

Jap import genuine Sti wagon going by the vin . Jap wrx are not 280 hp

The v limited wrx jdm was 260bhp
The standard wrx jdm was 240bhp
The uk spec wrx was 220bhp

Only Sti's were 280bhp

There was very few uk spec Sti classic cars
