What are the costs involved with bringing a car in from Japan?

VRT, Rd tax, NCT (does they need a rear foglight to be added?), shipping, a good alarm, mapping for Irish fuel, new radio, are a few costs that come to mind.

What would a very tidy, low Km, Version 5 or 6 STi cost by the time you have it parked in your driveway??
 
You would find just as good here for less at the moment and at least you will get to have a proper look before you buy unless you have a trustworthy buyer in Japan.
 
The way the Yen is valued these days you'd be making no were near the savings there used to be. Cheaper to buy here as Pete said. :thumbsup:
 
you would be daft to buy in japan now because there is some unreal bargins to be got in ireland at the moment..if you get a right one the car would be mapped+serv+nct+cleared and probally some tax on it and you can go and walk around it and have a good look at it
 
it wud be much cheaper to buy here at the moment mate,i took my v4 in 3 years ago and was worth doin then,but lookin at the price of the now youd be better buyin here,i usta take loads in but havnt even looked lately because of the rate of the yen.ya dont need a fog light added ,just for england,plus my v4 came with the fog light as standard. :subaru:

I know,(as far as i can remember) My car cost €19K in japan showroom, it cost me I think €36K on the road
VRT was €8,800 so Car plus VRT = €27,800
Leaving €8,200 for duty, and transport,
the 21% vat is on cost of car+transport cost (about) €4.5K
So shipping and dock fees and other stuff (about) €3.7

ya have the cost of the car e.g €4000
then shipping is roughly €600
then customs is ten percent of that €460
then vat is 21.5% €990
then vrt(about 36% of what its worth here) €2000 ish
then the import company have a documentation fee(was €146 when i got mine)
then replace whatever gets nicked at the docks
 
Had a reply typed to this and just read yours so left it as above right!!!

Might be about 800 for shipping what with current exchange and based on size of the car (5dr wrx is 115,000yen if paying at that end)
