could someone explain to me what makes the 22b such a sought after car in subaru circles ...
what makes it different from other imprezas such as the P1 etc ...
 
The 22B has the wide body which is one of the reasons it appeals so much. And it is partially hand built when taken off the type r production line. Its basically the closest thing to the wrc car on the road.

Well for starters there was only 400 made , it was a special edition to celebrate WRC Victory!!
the obhvious bit's are the wide arches and of course the 2.2ltr engine

but the really goodies are better center diff and rear diff , bigger brakes , better suspension , the car was longer & wider
weighed less (only about 15kg :dontknow: all helps !!)

All this resulted in bigger top end , faster between gears, better handling !!!

A 22B has a 5-speed fully synchronized close ratio gear box.......same as a TypeR .....i think ???

but it dose have a Twin plate ceramic/metal dry plate clutch hydraulically actuated ......not in a TypeR

You're right, Niall. the ratio etc is the same as in Type-R but its part no is different (TY752VB6SZ)
have a look at the link. it says "specially treated gear components"
