Hi was removing a Subwoofer & Amp from my B4 leggy today and I noticed my car has a Mines ECU fitted, I done a bit of googling just there and found this link

http://www.mines-wave.com/E_09/CATALOG/LEGACY_E.html

Just wondering if this ECU is mapped for Irish Fuel or should I be using Maxol E5 in my car. I was told the car was mapped by Bob Rawle at one of the owners meets but Im wondering if Bob Rawle is able to map this type of ECU, any help greatly appreciated

Fred

Few came into the country with mines maps on them, mapped by mines and a sticker in the standard eco AFAIK. If its been mapped by Bob for irish fuel already, then its just the same as having had a standard ECU mapped

I know that's different to the link there but as long as its mapped for irish fuel by Bob, then you're sorted.

It looks like it is an original ecu that has been mapped by mines in Japan. That's why it has guarantee plaque on it. What I'm wondering is after mines maps it, do they lock the ecu so that it cannot be mapped after that by anyone else.

I had one in a big power supra, from the bit of looking I did and the info I was given, I was told that they come with a map on them for a specific set of mods... So it's not a custom map to the car....
I'm not sure how accurated that info is, but I know that I couldn't get the car to run right on our fuel and I couldn't seem to find anyone here or Uk that could or possibly wanted to map the mines ecu. And only option at that time was to get a different ecu put in and mapped, this was probably 10 years ago so maybe things have changed?

Yeah its a strange one, because my car is running perfect with the Mines ECU on standard Irish Petrol. The Guy I got the car off Danny said it had a Bob Rawle map, whether it was himself that got it done or previous owner i don't know. Im just wondering is Bob Rawle or anyone able to map this Mines ECU to suit our fuel

Bob Rawle is coming over 1st week in feb to do some mapping, i read it on scoobyireland why not ask him about your car? might be mapped for irish fuel/95 ron already .

Seen that he was back over . Fair trip up north for mapping but great to know he will be back on a fairly regular basis

Update: Bob Rawle came back to me said he doesn't recall remapping my car before, I gave him the reg and chassis number. I asked him about getting it mapped again even though it has a mines plaque on it and he said it can be remapped again using ecutek. So I'm planning on getting this done soon just for peace of mind as I want to be 100% sure it's mapped for Irish Petrol.

No I didn't discuss price on getting it mapped. I'm hoping it won't be too expensive, especially just after Christmas :beerdrink:

Unfortunently it's not going to be cheap if you have to buy the ecutek licence... I'm guessing at 700 euro??

Thats a bit steep. Might just buy a standard ecu from a breakers and get it mapped for Irish fuel either. Might be a cheaper option

would you not get onto aonghus power and see if he can do it,he is very reputable at his job and very meticulous i'm sure it would be a lot cheaper than ecutek,a full ecutek map is 350 pounds + vat which makes it bloody expensive

That was my b4 and it's just a standard ecu originally mapped by mines but it has been remapped by bob rawl for irish fuel and mods done to car map doesn't need touching
