Just noticed a Mines ECU in my car, anyone have experience with these

Hi Gordon, I was talking to James in Couture Auto today on the phone. Aonghus used to do his mapping there before he moved to Galway. James rang him for me today asking if the Mines mapped ECU in it can be overmapped, He said he wouldn't be able to map it once it has the Mines mapped ECU in it already even though Bob Rawle emailed me saying he would be able using Ecutek, which I know is going to work out very expensive.
So my other option is to get a standard B4 ECU from a breakers & get Aonghus or Joe Power to map it for me to suit Irish Fuel

Cheers Danny, I had rang James in Couture Auto earlier today ( He is a customer of mine) before i was speaking to you to see if he could identify the power cut / loss of boost over the phone. He didnt answer but rang me back around 7pm and he told me it could just be the Mines Map is too agressive and he would recommend putting a standard ECU into it. I checked the vacum hoses and they all seem ok, nothing looks like it popped off so Id say myself its just the fact that I put Esso & then Topaz unleaded into it. Cheers for the offer of a standard ECU, I might drop down to you one of the days, Ill see how it fares out over next few days, having just put Octane Booster into it this evening & going to fill it with Maxol E5 tomorrow too.

Fred

Danny, can you tell fred roughly when you got it mapped? That way it might refresh bob's memory if he hasn't kept records.

Fred, it doesn't need another ECU, that one can be mapped, I told you and danny who owned the thing told you. Best thing to do is go and get it checked on a dyno if you're worried and ask to check the fuelling and boost situation.

Was about 2 years ago the ecu was mapped by bob then I bought the ecu with his map on it then got it tweeked to suit my car and the map isn't to hard as it's not a mines map I never had the cut that you are describing only when it split the waste gate hose as soon as fixed was perfect again but your more than welcome to the other ecu and get mapped again

When it played up on me it was waste gate hose had small spit in side so wasn't regulating boost pressure and was hitting boost cut

Thanks a mill Danny, Its quiet possible the power cut i experienced on Sunday & Today is my own fault for putting different fuel (Topaz & Esso) into it when you were using Maxol all along. Ill give it a few days with the Octane booster & Maxol e5 in it and see how it runs dude, and if I cant get it sorted ill drop down to you one of the days and get that other ECU. Thanks again for your help, much appreciated

No bother mate hope you have as much fun with it as I did I do actually miss it feels like I have lost a child lol

Dont worry Danny, I am minding it like a baby, Ive already washed it 4 times since I got it, including this evening. Only other bits I done were took out Subwoofer to make more room in boot, and removed stickers from it. Thats it. Getting plenty of looks in it every time i take it out for a spin. Never got that many in the Mondeo lol.

It is a savage car I loved it i saw you sold the sub and amp there on adverts shame I didn't know I would have bought them for that price and sold them on as I payed like 700 for amp box sub and wiring :facepalm

Thats why I asked you if you wanted it when you were here Danny, because I was going to take it out as it was taking up too much room in boot. I thought it was in car when you got it and that's why you didn't want to take it out and bring it home with you. Did you look under back bumper on mondeo to see if towbar is still there after, I'm 100% sure it is now just couldn't remember that day. I'll bring you down the hitch part someday when I'm down your way or if your passing anytime drop in dude

Filled the tank with major e5 and about 120ml pro boost octane booster and car seems fine now. No boost cut since, so I'm putting it down to that shite applegreen petrol I put in previously.
