knocking sound on cold engine

ok just thought might sound bit stupid.
is any chance check big end bearings not removing sump just removing sump?
 
No even removing the sump wont help, your best bet is bite the bullet and get it properly diagnosed, maybe try davelegacy? Other than that explore your other ideas of the fault as best you can and pin point it to bearings, as the saying goes 'dont beat around the bush' just get stuck in to finding the problem, as im sure the uncertainy is doing ur head in by now, and best of luck!

Drain oil into clean can and inspect that and whats in bottom of sump for any signs of bearing particles..

And camera then see of any particles at bottom of oil pick up pipe.


Be a good indication. But never 100% answer bearing condition.

engine was inspected as possible not going into. have confirmed few times its not big end bearings. and still couple people writing that is big end bearings so was thinking to check
