Knocking.

Hi Folks I have a slight knocking sound when the car is cooling down after a reasonably hard drive it sounds like plastic so I dont think it an engine problem and its not there all the time any ideas, oil level is fine cheers John L. ps one person sugested it just might be natural aspiration dont mind the spelling cheers.

What type of knocking is it does it sound like :ponder2:

Is it from the engine, when you rev the engine does the knocking speed increase when you increase the engine RPM :ponder2:

Folks I only hear it when I'm out of the car and she cooling down its sounds like plastic knocking or water boiling its like dum dum dum its there a while and no overheating or other issues that I can see thanks John L.

If the engine is off, it is nothing to worry about :thumbsup:

It is just you engine & ancillaries cooling down :thumbsup:

If you can hear the odd click, tick etc..... its just the engine cooling down :thumbsup:

It was my first time to see you car in the flesh last weekend John :thumbsup:

Yeah the motor is still running on idle but its not all the time so I don't know cheers and tanks I love my car :thumbsup:
 
the worse thing is once u got a sound stuck in your head it stays there.. i remember when i 1st got the scooby lots of new sounds and there was lots of worry...

if you worried get it checked by someone..
 
As the lad's said john im like that to when a sound i havn't heard appears, but as mick said its probably just cooling down. But im sure the more mechanicaly minded people will be along to advise. :subaru:
