Lads- Check yer nuts!

Petrolheads
After washing the car there I was putting on some tyre shine when i spotted 2 wheels nuts gone and one loose!
Tugboatin lucky i am! Had a good drive to navan and back yesterday and a good bit of local driving in the past few days.
I was in a reputable tyre place last week and I got them to check the rear pads while they were balancing the car. Can be the only place that did it, either left them loose or somethin!

Could have had a messy pants moment and not of the good kind!

I repeat, CHECK YER NUTS!!!!!!
:angry1: :angry1:

Did they use an air gun to put the nuts back on? Have heard in the past that air guns don't put them on right.

Lost a nut a while back, yesterday i decided to check them and 3 loose. (I then rang the yoke for the lock nuts trying to tighten her home so i'm kinda fooked now (ideas to get them off welcome))

Yeah they defo used an airgun, im nearly sure i saw him tighten one side of the car with a wheel brace so didnt think of checkin them

I always make a point of checking nuts a few days after they are adjusted!!!!
was in a car a few years ago that lost a back wheel on the m1

Nasty accident was very narrowly escaped

Better off checking few days after having wheels off allright.

Wouldnt have been someone trying to rob them?

:smokin:

I had a close call couple months back had the front wheels off to raise the suspension couple days later i started hearing s rubbing sound front the front went to see if anything was caught etc and all five nuts were loose id say if i had left it the wheel would have come off seen it happen to a lad before and the discs werent pretty after but i usually recheck the nuts after a couple of days if ive had them off

i had to get a new tyre there on friday morning so went to nearest place for a tyre , yer man actually had trouble getting my wheel nuts off and then tried to tell me i had the wrong ones one the car and a whole load of crap that im lucky the wheels never fell off ,funny that they have survied a whole year without so much as a problem with any of them

Big thanks to WagonDec for getting the lock nuts off the car today, Karma on the way :xmas_cheers:

had a brake job done at dealer last spring. noticed on the day that one of the front wheel's lugs was missing. checked the rest all around to find that a couple were loose enough. called them the next day to share the experience and was obviously told that it could not have happened due to their negligence...highest level of excellence quality standards, air wrench, individually checked with torque wrench etc. must be a nut monster on the prowl:)

btw, what is the right torque to tighten the nuts on a forester? would 100Nm be spot on?
