legacy b4 bl5 modifications?

go-scoob-racer

Sunday Drivers
just having a look round the internet and i only see a few sites selling performance mods for the bl5, not to mention the prices some are at.

im not into paying a grand for an exhaust system, anyone here have any dealings with these lads, and the quality of there systems?

http://www.souhan.ie/exhausts.html?gclid=CKmmhLzhtqECFQc9lAodp1q5_w

also anyone here with a bl5 have advice for a few reasonably cheap performance mods?? as the car is still standard and still limited.

i was going to get the lads in Souhan to do a catless downpipe for me but the only do cat back systems

Not really any cheap power mods for any Subaru

You can get a uprated panel filter K+N or Apexi would be a good choice about 70 euro

Because the cat back exhaust system is so big and dual exit it is very expensive over a grand for most systems, i think the HKS silent is the cheapest option about 900. and they dont add much power really, but sound better!

After that the things you can change to get more power is freer flowing downpipe(400/500 euro) or larger Top mount intercooler both requiring a remap.

uprated fuel pump 100 euro
3 port boost solenoid 120-150 euro

So unfortunately answer is no "cheap" way to get more power

how easy would it be to fit performance parts from an impreza, can it be done and which model impreza has similar fitments if it is possible? :subaru:

nothing can be fitted without modification, front Brembo's off an STI will fit straight on, air filter is the same, dont know of anything else, there is some compatible suspension parts from 08+ STI but thats about it. What are you wanting to do exactly?

dont really know, just that i know performance parts can be bought cheap enough for sti's and wanted to know if there was much i could use for the b4. would an unequal length manifold from any sti fit the b4?

im picking my car up in a few hours, just ringing round now in a sec to get the best quote for it, got some cheap ones from 123.ie. i was insured with quinn on my taxi for 3 years and was paying 2800euro(im 25 years old) and now i hope that im back on a regular car they can sort me out and beat the quotes from 123, anyone else i should call? was considering xsdirect but as my quotes arent too bad i figured whats the point in them if i have an accident and have to pay big excess.

should have the car by 3 or 4 o clock woohooo :subaru:

and john l, what does the system sound like, i want that boxer rumble, not after a hugely noisey exhaust just something that lets people know a scooby is coming, the standard exhaust on the bl5 im getting doesnt really do much for me, looks nice but lacks a bit of presence :boohoo:

you wont get the boxer rumble from BL5 legacy, because it has equal length headers, and you cannot just through unequal length headers on it either without have to change your turbo from a twin scroll to single scroll! You can have a listen to mine if you want. Haven't heard John L's exhaust yet so cant comment

Hayward and scott now do a cat back system for the Bl5 legacy, not the cheapest though

yea if yaz are having a meet in the next couple of weeks in dublin ill come along and check out your cars and yaz can give me any advice and all :subaru:

make sure with the insurance its insured as a jap legacy turbo, a lot of places dont have it in the system and will simply put it down as a 2 litre non turbo which you dont want!

is yours a Magnaflow John? Try stick up some pictures or video clip? If your saying Souhan can do downpipe too, i might get them to make one up. Can decide whether to get one with or without the Cats though :ponder2: an extra 5~bhp compared to the hassle of having to swap it over come NCT time! sports cat might be the best option. Oh the decisions!

Sorry to hi jack the thread,

Dan, will the STi brembo's fit striaght on the BL5? What year from or to? My discs are defo warped, is it just the calipers, or will discs go on aswell?

when i wrote the reg number in 123.ie it came back as a 2wd sri 2.0 legacy, why is that??? when i wrote in b4 legacy the quote i got was 250 more fully comp, no real difference. Quinn the b*stards wouldnt even quote me she said they wont insure me on a b4 unless im over 30, considering i was insured with em paying huge money on my taxi up until today i feel cheated.

main thing im thinking is why did my reg come back as a non b4? is that just because whoever previously insured it didnt have it down as a b4?

i think anything from 05 onwards should fit, i would go with the larger discs too. Godspeed brakes have a good selection of options, the do mainly Brembo and AP kits, customer service is questionable, if your in a rush for them maybe look elsewhere.

Or you could just get me pads and discs, be the cheapest option. Maybe try just pads first as if the pads wore unevenly that would be the warping your talking about. Is there much of a lip on your discs? usually wears on the inside more, with the floating 2 pot calipers

dunno maybe car was insured wrongly before and it just pulls info off insurance system, make sure it goes down as a B4 because touch wood you have an accident and its not down as turbo they wont pay out

and on 123.ie i cant find a b4 just a b4 rsk, id be best to ring them instead of doing it online after the quote was given on an rsk, it should be cheaper??

No lip at all on them dan, they seem in good shape, until ya come to stopping!

Fu@k me, i just checked my car online, its down as legacy b4 2.0i bl5 non turbo, when get garage vrt'd it thats what was put down. What the hell!

i just paid 178 for 3 months tax there mate.

Interesting about your brakes being the same, serious wobble when coming to stop in mine, more annoying than anything, they are stopping grand
