hi all after a long hard think and after my type r gettin lifted from my yard put a downer on cars but i miss the flat 4 and talked around the misses on gettin another 1 wasn easy :icon_grin: i know this topic was prob brought up a few times before anyways im thinkin on purchasin in a few months so wat i was wonderin was wats the best bug eye or blob eye to look out for and the best tuning ability mappin etc ill be lookin for 6speed and brembos and possibly dccd would love another type r but i already had 2 a v6 and the v3 555 type r but there gettin old now so going with possibly a blob.... im between a scooby and a mk2 escort at the min as i love old school cars and always a ford fanatic thinkin on old school for cheap tax insurance reasons oppose to the scooby all advice appriciated lads :thumbsup:
 
what would the car be used for ger?

weekend toy or daily commute
 
be prob a daily driver lad fuel ecconomy should be bit better with 6 speed as oppose to my old scoob with rediculous low geared box
 
the newage will be no better on mpg than the type r, maybe a little but not enough to pick one over a classic.

imo i wouldnt buy a impreza as a daily driver unless you were only doing about 2-300 klms a week, most impreza's will only get about 400 klms from a full tank of juice at 80-100 euro fill.

if your doing big mls a week go for a diesel yoke with low tax and then buy the escort for the weekend as you can get cheap tax and insurance or if you dont mind paying the 600 tax on a scooby theres a place in portloaise doing insurance on cars over 15s years for 320 euro. then you could pick up a cheap 96/97 sti for the weekends
 
id be only doin bout 150-200 miles a week tops unless going to a meet or a long journey and petrol prices isn helpin either
 
petrol will be 2 euro per litre at the end off the year
forget the every day car option unless you have plenty cash to burn

Hard to find a clean classic nowadays, there are a few about but not many. Go for a blob sti and you have a great base to start modding with the 6 speed and stronger engine.
 
i suppose it depends what you want to spend to

3 k will get you a nice classic
7 k will get a nice blob sti
but youll have to pay 10 + k for a escort
 
had 2 classic type r already would like a change @rob yeah 6speed would be good starting point as u said and brembos as to upgrade a classic to these talkin around 2000
@ duffman i seen a few clean escorts in the 5-6000 area and look good and decent
 
a buddy of mine bought a mint black 78 rs2000 for 8,400 last month....
he was looking for 6 months for a minter,there are nice ones out there for 5 or 6k but rust and previous damage are big issues....
