MAF question

Recently my car has been hesitating, so fitted a brand new MAF unit today & now the car is running fine no hesitation, however the engine management light came on for about 5 minute son first startup then after a quick drive it went off and now it flicks on and off every few minutes, is this a problem or just the ecu adapting to the new maf or something.

I forget but I think you may have to disconnect the battery for over a hour or 2 to reset the ecu
im sure someone will be along to clarify :thumbsup:
 
Engine is 2003, the engine management light just wont go off it keeps coming back even after changing the maf.
 
The original one in it was denso, the replacement was just a generic copy though do you think that could be it?
 
it could be .from my own experience I fitted 3 copies to my car and had issues with them all so I bit the bullet and bought a genuine one and that was 5 years ago and about 80000 miles and no issues since
 
Ill try borrow a genuine one first to confirm it, seems like i just wasted 50 on that generic maf then.
 
ye I would do that if you can ,subarus don't like cheap parts at all especially electrical parts your better off just buying genuine
