Maf sensor cleaner?

ive read that electrical contact cleaner does the job to clean the MAF so gonna give it a try as I cant source any proper stuff anywhere.
 
i dont wana get a new maf yet,the car is a bit hesitant when accelerating from cold and also I noticed that its burning more petrol that normal...so was just gona test out the cleaner and see if it helps?
 
Should I just leave it then? So the spray no help then? Anytin else to use apart from buyin a new maf??
 
ive used pcb cleaner on my maf before with no problems afterwards,why arent you supposed to clean the maf?
 
Cleaned a MAF before, very tricky. Once cleaned allow a few hours to dry.

In my case it thru up the Check Engine Light, cleared it and happy days.

If in doubt don't try it.
 
I've cleaned mine twice. I think I got contact cleaner at maplins. It looked like a burned match end before and a pretty piece of amer at the end.

I was very careful. Sprayed, then pulled the fibers loose on a q tip and gently agitated the residue off.

Worked fine, and the Sti has 180000km on it now. Last time was about 30000km ago
