Make sure you never end up with rethreaded tyres!

Coming down the link in Cork Saturday morning on my way back when I noticed a vibration from the front left side of the car. I slowed right down and continued as there was nowhere to pull in and I was nearly home when there was a bang and a constant noise like something hitting off the arch. I crawled home at 20km/h and the noise decreased with the lower speed, I was only a few hundred metres away from home at that stage. I saw that the tyre had started to peel away from the casing and I thanked my lucky stars it hadnt blown out . Got a new tyre and the lad in the tyre placed said I was absolutely haunted that it didn't blow and take me out of it. The tyre came on the car when I got it and as there was loads of thread on it I never gave it a closer look as I now know I should have. Also I dont think your insurance covers rethreads so if it goes and you crash...well you're fucked. Anyone thinking of ever getting a remold or think they have one on their car... Dont do it. Pic isnt great but you can see it peeling away. There was no wear on the inside wall or anything. Im sure many of you are already well aware of the dangers of part worn or rethreaded tyres but just thought I'd bang this up all the same.
Dont take risks saving a few shillings on tyres.

Completely agree, you see lads spending 1000's on performance mods and then running cheap tyres...especially brakes, you'll see full set of 6 pots and then cheap tyres...all that's going to do is making you lock up quicker, not stop quicker

I seen a 400hp evo (proven) parked outside Couture Auto with FULLRUN tyres all round. These are made of plastic. Some awful donkeys out there , If I couldnt afford proper tyres I'd honestly just park it off until I could

Your very lucky man. Very silly you not checking tyres after you bought the car . It's the first thing I look at as I walk up to a car I.m looking to buy . Nothing wrong with part worn tyres Either when there a good make and checked.

Doesn't look like a falken thread, they are more symmetrical.

I know! Lesson learned eh? I just checked the thread depth and the walls it had just gone through and nct when I got it so obviously yerman just threw it on it to put it through. Luckily I didnt find out in too hard a way! Could have gone much worse...
