Would it look good on a legacy??

So someone in work sent me a link to a sprayer he got to paint his rs6 wheels with some matt black plastidip, i was thinking of maybe buying a tin and doing my whole car matt black and see how it looks, lots of scratches and stuff that i need to get fixed but don't have the funds for it at the minute, if it turns out well it could be a cheap solution until i have the money to get the few bits i need resprayed properly.

Link to inspiration here:

Vinyl wrap would be a better option... same matte finish... no major prep work unlike spraying... and can be removed when you choose to get car painted.

Bad idea painting it unless your going to spend the money and do it right... it won't work as a cheap cover-up job.

like the result but unsure of method .taping up roof and windscreen , EVERYTHING else gets coated
durability may be another issue .repair options
would it remove more easily than "wrapping" by the look of it coming off the windows .

i dunno Vinyl wrap would be the best way to go, wonder will it come off the paint just as easy as it came off the windows :ponder:

i would go with wrap too if you really want the matt black finish.

a friend has a matt army green on his s14a and its b1tch to keep he said. after a week there were marks as birds droppings leave a mark after removal, plus removing them causes marking too sometimes as they really do stick .

i dont know a whole lot about but thats his take on it

Vinyl wrap best way to go I think. Matt black looks great but you're giving yourself a headache keeping it clean and maintained.

I saw an '03 Toyota Avensis a few days ago with full matt black wrap covered in bird sh*t. Perhaps owner waits until enough of the car is covered in sh*t for it to be worthwhile cleaning it?

Seen a 911 turbo in Mondello about a year ago wrapped Matt black and it looked sh1t
Very bag job and had lost it's Matt finish in spots all over the car.
Was gonna wrap my car until I seen this.

wrap would be nearly the same price as a respray lads so no point in that, for less than a hundred euro it might last a 9-12 months year or so before it needs fixing up.

This would look really nice. Did you find any retails that sell this spray? On ebay its very expensive.

stupid idea Dan
wait until you can afford to do it right
golf looks like a bag of sh1te
youd destroy your car doing this :hand:
nothing worse than fresh coats of whatever on a car with dents and scuffs
never-mind the cost of applying it and then having to remove it after you realise its wrong
i can see why you are tempted but don't bother
your car is way to nice for this type of idea :subaru:

I think you will destroy your car, matt black will look crap on it wheter is painted or wrapped.. Its only suitedtp certain cars, mainly hardcore stuff that could pull of any colour, it will make your car look like its a 1992 sh*t box

Dan your car looks class as is

I know all those little scrathes / marks are prob wrecking your head
but nobody can see them when your on the road and unless someone
is inspecting your car , they wont be seen

So i reckon save up the €€€€€€'s and get a full respray or touch up etc.....

I did a quick google search and there's loads of products for touching up scratches
and so on , i've never used any but for €50 aprox i reckon a much safer bet .

That plastidip dose look very interesting but for me it's something you might throw on
a track car .........................or maybe some sh*t box , just for the laugh !!!
your car is way too nice for that.

Niall.

Seeing the price of the kit and that you intend to have a proper respray down the line and that you feel like "doing something" I would say go for it...even if it turns out bad it will still be "good for the head"...
