Maxol E5 ??

If i was looking at a rough idea, ROUGH IDEA.. Same car, same rr, same everything.. i would be thinking @20 - 30hp difference between E5 and Vpower..
Some cars will suffer more than others.
If it was me sticking an SC42 on a 2ltr, tbh i would be hoping for around the 400, but be aware it may make 380-400.. Be more sure of 400 with a 2.5 on E5..

But look we are all guessing here and saying maybe, it could, ifs and buts.. Its impossible to tell.. If you allow 380-400 on E5 you shouldnt be disapointed... and make sure and go to generous DYNOS You might get the 420 then even:)

Problem with different RON is it is effecting your timing advance potential and controlling DET... and its amazing the difference in cars, identical cars could be way different, one could take Timing advance alot easier than the other.. so how a Lower RON effects one might not cause the same loss in a different engine if that makes sense, as its not as prone to DET

Ok guys making sence now ,thanks
What about a bigger turbo like a sc46 ? Would that see figures closer to a target of 420 bhp on irish fuel ?

as a wise man once said to me (not so long ago) , ask yourself how dissapointed would you be with 399 bhp result ?? and what if you didnt get it dyno'd , how would u judge the performance , dont go chasing figures , its more about how it feels .
do u see the point im trying to make . 400 (as nice as it sounds) is not the be all and end all .

and then ask your self , condition of inside of engine and how long it may last at this uprated power level ?

if you use the best components available you will see the resluts imo

Planing on using best gear on this
Wont be chasing dyno figures but would like as much info. as i can before make a move.
Cheers for the good advise aswell .

Agree with mac mac ,even though it is nice to have a piece of paper with 400-420hp on it , figures are not everything if the car drives well and feels quick to you thats all that matters :subaru:

Problem is lads read uk figures from say a vf35 turbo on a jdm head avcs sti on v power. then put a VF35 turbo on a irish turbo 2000 running 95 and expect the exact same figures. then tie that in with as ken said generous rolling roads.

If the car goes and feels great dont get hung up on figures.

And above is NOT aimed at you STi Bob. I know your only asking opinion. I mean it as a general reply.

Are you sure it's 99 RON? The 2 Maxol stations I use have E5 and their pumps say "E5 95 RON."

If it was rated as 99 ron the tax would be higher on it as we tax the Ron.
Its because its 5% Bioethonal makes it similar to 99 ron, but its a renewable source and not taxable or some shite so its Rated at 95 ron, but is as good as 99ron Maxol say, we say 97-98ron :)

Ahhhh I see! Down to €1.58 a litre in the Maxol in Ratoath this morning. Prices seem to be coming back down a smidge. For now.

In fairness Dave I was a bit like that as regards the figures from my own Vf35 last year and I know we had a chat through pm about it. The part of your quote I highlighted is a good statement because once I realised the car was great to drive I didnt care about the figures at all. Even better again now with the 48 and a better exhaust setup

Must take a trip up there then so, does that get a fair amount of through traffic so its not sitting in the tanks for long?

Where's the other station you use, seems to be a short age of E5 stations on the north side :new_puppy_dog_eyes:

Other one is out the Navan Rd. The 2 can differ in price an awful lot sometimes. For example one day the one in Ratoath was €1.68 and the one on the Navan Rd was €1.63There's ment to be one in Swords or Santry somewhere aswell I think.

One in Ratoath does get quite a bit of traffic through it alright. The one on the Navan Rd only has half it's pumps marked E5.

Think I'll jam into Rathoath from now on, cheers bud

For the octane rating, see: http://newsite.maxol.ie/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=144&Itemid=292#What is the Octane Rating of E5 compared to ordinary Unleaded

Seem to have a lot more on their website nowadays, claims it has been measured at 99 but I'd say across the board, it would probably average 97-98 which is still a huge improvement over standard 95

The one in Santry is only 100m down past the Omni shopping centre, although I thought that had closed down a couple of years back, maybe not though :dontknow:

Have used the one below the omni a few times recently Robbie , seems ok to me anyway , the only Maxol i use that i have questions about is the one in bray , car never runs right on it , feels lumpy or something

Filled up in the one in santry on Saturday. Still open.
Fill up in Rathoath most times, only 4 pumps so had to cue nearly every time.
(Pre pay is the annoying thing when ya want to fill up).
