Mappers will be making some nice money because of it

Think thats unfair..

People have a choice of 95 or E5 when picking fuel choice with E5 obviously the best fuel choice. If this was removed from the market its not as if mappers had some hand in it and if there time is being used this is wat you pay for..

As clarified above E5 is not being removed from the irish market for the foreseeable future so no mapped customer has anything to worry about.

that 99RON bit...that would mean that they would have to start with ~98RON to begin with (would one get 99RON out of 95RON by blending 5% ethanol in??)...and they are 100% discreet about it at the pump...selling superior, traditionally more expensive product at the same price as standard 95RON and not a trace of any pitch about it...the sole info is buried in their web and the lingo is quite specific either "has been measured at 99"- it does not plainly say IS...

Good Point Milo.. E5 has a octane between 97.5 and 99.5,, Maxol state on there website that E5 is 99 Octane,, but in my opinion this is a maximum number,,

Here is a link to the E5 FAQ page on maxol.. * note * "WHAT OCTANE IS E5.......?"

Just to clear this up for everyone..

I contacted Maxol Ireland today, and they have confirmed that E5 is here to stay,, They have remarked that staff in the serves stations mentioned above may have been confused and mixed up E5 and E85,,

Maxol Rep "i will mention it to the regional manager,, these staff clearly don't know the product there selling."

E5 is here to stay and is sold in all of the Maxol stations in the south of Ireland

Forget about Silkolene Pro Boost . It does not work at all.. Lucas Octane Booster or NF are the only ones to go with.

thanks for the info, i live 50 miles away from galway city ill have to stay lookin around portumna loughrea area or tipperary side i live on the border

isn't it the case that e5 is now maxols standard issue petrol after it phased out 95 one last summer???...
