Haven't seen the large 5l ones for sale anywhere since my last change, halfords dont list them on their website and they only list the 1L ones now. So whats the alternative to this? Is 15w50 actually needed in my car or can i switch to something a bit more common and easier to get?

You don't really need 15w50 unless you plan on giving the car some abuse... especially coming into winter where it takes a lot longer to get up to safe operating temperature..10w40 should be fine

YE I was thinking that as that the car is a bit sluggish from cold with the 15w50, would 5w40 be better this time of year or a bit too thin?

Saying that, ill be changing it before the track day so it might get a good thrashing then!

I would leave the 15w50 for the track..even go for Motul 15w50...10w40 castrol magnatec is good for the winter cold starts and thin enough

needs an oil change before track day though. So where can i get some 15w50 then these days? I suppose i'll just run it for a few weeks and when the temps drop ill go to 5/10w40

Going to jump in on this Dan, hope you don't mind. Coming into winter which is better, a semi or a fully synthetic oil?

ive been using this 10w60 last 2 changes warms up quick enough enough and no loss of oil pressure it wanna be good 62 euro every 4500

i cannot find any 15w50 of any sort near me, i have tried about 6 different motor factors today. only oil i can see thats decent is castrol edge 10w60
