Modified Cars Topic on Last Word (Todayfm) at the mo!!!

Think it was on the log book as a 1.3 efi not a turbo.
As you say Marko its not on
If i had a son there is now way id let him or her out in a turbo car for there first car its madness

I know plenty that have Glanzas that are insured as Irish Starlets. Its definately not on.

Last year Quinn sent me a letter stating i had to send them a photocopy of my license and log book to prove i was driving what i said i was (gsr). Why isn't this happening with everyone or is it that they just pull a random name and check them? :dontknow:

its handy money for insurance companies IMO,
customers come to them and give them money
if the customer discloses wrong info....its no payout on claim with no refund!!!!
its up to the gardai to sort the mess out on the road!!!

There are some lads out there selling 2lt turbo impreza's with log books for 1.6 how the fook is that happening :dontknow:

isnt that the importer scamming to avoid paying large amounts of vrt????

When i bought my first gsr the lad asked what i wanted on the log book. :angry1:

Thas mad when i was buying my first sti they were saying the same thing
They bring them in then tell the vrt office its a 1.6 and thats it :dontknow:
Thats 2 easy :angry1:

When they are filling in the rf100 form they put different engine sizes on i think and then when the log book is sent out it has that size. Think it also needs a dosey cnut at vrt office to not notice engine sizes too when they are checking it.

dead right jamie but as long as all our details are in order...we have no worries!!!!

Yeah I know.... but this sort of clamp down to make it look like they are being proactive to something that has no effect on the number of road deaths annually will basically kill off the modding culture in this country! I also spent years being harrassed by the Gardai for being a young driver or for owning something a little flash and now that I'm old and legit with regards to my car it'll just p**s me off if i still have to explain myself everytime they feel like being w****rs by pulling you for what you drive!

This will effect us...every mod wil be scrutinised regardless if it's being fitted right or whether it actually improves the handling, braking or performace of your car that technically makes it better/safer! They'll just tar us all with the same brush and in the end it will come down to the discression of whoever pulls you over whether or not they fine you. Nothing is black and white in this country.... every law has it's grey areas and there'll be no consistancy to any of it!

in fairness ya dont see too many bad accidents involving subarus, its mostly sh*t little small engined cars with sh*t brakes. they overtake in areas that they dont have the power for and no brakes for stopping then.

There was an ad on the front page of the star today about the glanza, he flipped the car at 137kmph, I didnt see the ad myself but what I gathered from other forums was that he was racing another car which cut in front of him,he then braked and swerved to avoid this car and then flipped,

The guards and public need to realise that people who put a lot of money into their cars generally don't put themselves or their cars at risk by acting like complete tools on the road... There are always some, but they are all over the place driving completely stock cars as well as modified ones... Its scumbags in the likes of crapped out civic's tearing around and not giving a sh*t about the car that are giving all of us a bad name...

I was listening to 98fm last night when the girl's mam came on and said how the girl had rang her mate just before getting in the car cause she was so worried about the fella's driving... That lad was driving only 3 weeks, a fooking joke if you ask me... 140kmph is rediculous for someone like him... I remember when i started driving, and after a couple of weeks I got up to 60mph once with the instructor in the car... I nearly shat myself but i felt as if i'd never been moving that fast in a car in my life... I can guarantee you i wouldn't have had a clue what to do if something went wrong and i can only imagine him at 90mph when something went wrong...

1. Any car that has a provisional driver insured on it should be restricted to 80kmph until 6 months after they pass their test.
2. No-one under 21 should be able to be insured on anything more than a 1.2litre engine.

Sadly though, with the way car prices are going, all i can see is more young people getting high performance cars and insuring them with false details and this happening a lot more...

most glanzas and gt turbos have 1.3 litre on log book and down as a ordinary efi thats wrong, its making it worse for the likes of us that look after our subarus and have them insured properly, most 17 or 18 year olds are starting off driving in these cars and dont give a sh1t about insuring them wrong :naughty:

i blame the jap import dealers for not clearing them properly and there would be less accidents on the roads due to when it comes to insuring these cars they have to be a certain age and ncb :icon_hang:

lads its crazy im 28 full licence since 2003 driveing since i was 18 no crashes or claims
try to get uk wrx insured 2 years ago no joy as only had 1ncb as was on girlfriends policy then 2 days later rang quinn bout a legacy gt they were more than happy to cover at 1400 with 120 excess snapped it up and bought a 1995 gt auto with 260bhp six months later i bought a 1999 gtb with 280bhp and the trouble swapping over have it year and half and still paying 1000 so how are these kids get typr r and so insured its crazy a 17 or 18 year old in 200_300 bhp cars is disgraceful im still caught out by my car the odd time and i drive everyday i just hope they realise its the people insuring these lads who are responsible for the idiots given all experienced drivers a bad name.i think a photo and log book needs to be produced to insure these lads at least then they will know actually what it is they are insuring.if we can tell what a car is by looking at it why cant they its easy to tell the difference.

cheers

lads this is just a joke their is too many young lads out there driving fast cars on provisional licences and if they cant insure it themselves mammy and daddy come into action.and with the jap dealers there is two many companies that would give you a dodgy log book.it needs to be sorted and the guards and politicians need to see the difference between us and others
