Some of you may remember I posted that I was moving to Spain. Well that was a temporary thing.

I was told yesterday I have to move to Prestwick at the end of the month. This will be a permanent move until such time I can get a transfer back home to Dublin (too quiet there right now)

So off to McRae territory I go. I dont mind really as its closer to home and they speak some sort of English there! I haven't picked up a word of Spanish here in 3 months. Feckin useless at languages.

Ah man that sucks! But at least its closer to home as ya say.

And don't worry, Me and steve will take good care of the type-r

Depends how long it will be for, and how much the uk VRT is.

You can re register it here for free or €70 once its already had irish plates before

oh no do they not use more salt in a day than we have used in the last month to grit their roads??? :ponder2:

Prestwick eh! Not a very nice airport as I'm sure you well know, theres always horrible crosswinds blowing the damn plane all over the place. Still a good distance from Glasgow too. Have a look at Troon, very nice town right next to Prestwick and quality golf courses if thats your fancy

Yeah nearly always strong winds there and I dont like golf

I think it will cost something like 50 quid to register the car on uk plates.....
not expensive at all... definitely worth it from a tax point of view.....
there are loads of nice quiet places round there were ya will save a bloody fortune on insurance loading etc.

Best of luck with the move fella

I usually jump seat home for my 4 days off which would leave me without a car here then. ah I dont know what to do.

Do what I did Andy & quit Ryanair :iamwithstupid: ,mind you id say there's a quite a difference in pay between Pilots wages and planners money!

Best of luck in PIK,stayed in AYR in the station hotel whilst on "training",wasnt great but the country side looked allrite,i think some more a/c are being based in PIK come march.

How often do you get the 4 days.

If you get home often leave the car here if lifts to and from work are free just work and party over there/

CARLO

5 days on 4 days off rotation.

Im swaying towards leaving it here and trying scottish public transport :icon_omg:

was it the Swallow Station Hotel? and yes I have heard just today in fact, they are adding another aircraft to that base.

I would say the transports system in the PIK is much better than here, train station right at the door, where as in Dublin its piss poor,i heard it takes an hour on the 102 to get from airport to portmarnock at peak times.

Yeah i believe it was swallow, right on the train line, jumped out of the bed 1st time a train went by!

Best of luck with the move andy, id bring the car if i were you and spend your days off driving around the mountains..I had my type r in scotland just before i sold it and had an interesting few days! as dagnut says they are rare enough over there..
