Muffler Silencer

Hi Scooboys!!!
I am new to this web, just want to say Hello!!! But the other reason I am so kind is I need help!
I have just bought a black 1999 Impreza WRX, so my lifestyle has completely been changed!!! Ok, let's go to the point. There is an aftermarket exhaust system on my car with no brand and it is as loud as satan's farts and because I am a musician and do not want to loose my faculty, I have decided to fit a muffler silencer core or whatever the name of that is. I bought one on Ebay a few days ago http://www.ebay.com/itm/300734397060?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2648 but it does not fit as the diameter is exactly 4.5 ", so it is too big. My car's nozzle dimensions are: outside 4.5 inch (11.45cm), inside 4.35inch (11.00cm). Here you have a pic: http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/hh604/radobado/su.jpg
The question: Do you know where in Ireland or anywhere I could possibly find the right part? I am sure some of you had the same issue and it could save me lots of hassle if I could get any help here. Best regards, RADO.

Here are some pics of my Subaru: http://s1254.photobucket.com/albums/hh604/radobado/

Hi Rado, unfortunately I bought the same kind of bung for my exhaust, also stated 4.5" from ebay:
http://www.ebay.ie/itm/UNIVERSAL-REMOVABLE-4-5-SP-EXHAUST-BAFFLE-DB-SILENCER-/270920980171?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f142616cb#ht_2063wt_1163

This does not fit to my 4.5" tail pipe as well. The same measurements as your exhaust.
Its literally a millimeter to big, and doesn't want to slide in.
Just in case you were thinking of getting another one from ebay.

I know icetronix does them, it might be best to go to a place where you can see if it fits before trying online again

That's a fantastic looking classic. I seen it in Dublin city not long ago, just before it was advertised ( 2 owners previous to you) and it had a sweet sound too.

All the best with it, great looking car!

Hey Jaak.
I know how you felt in the moment you tried to fit the muffler ;( :ponder2:
I am going to check Icetronix.
Thanks for the info.

Pete, thank you for the kind words!!! The previous owner done just 1500 kms. It was imported in 2008 and now is 127000km on the clock. The only thing I am seriously worrying about is the timing belt, as there is no sign that it has ever been changed and I have not enough money to do that now ;) Savings, savings, savings.....

Anyway Best of luck to you too!!!

I had the same problem so took mine into the workshop and sanded it down on a bench sander it took a bit of work because of working on such light metal fitted fine after that. just a pity I didn't think of putting in the bolt so it came out and another car drove over it :(

scooby.grrr Dope idea, but it won't work with my thing, the difference in sizes is too big - around 4 mm, but I think to change diameter of the hoop as I found a kind "charity" welder;)
Thanks for the smart tip!!!
