A couple of weeks ago I bought a Legacy needing some work to restore her to her former glory. Yesterday I had a day off so headed down to Mayo where I'm storing her to see what she needed to get her back running again. I forgot to take photographs but will do next time I'm down.
We did a compression test and found:
1: 145
2: 100
3: 100
4: 0
So not great news. The car had about 2 litres too much oil in it. We checked the timing belt which looks like it has been changed recently.
Next step is to strip the engine and see if the block is damaged and see what exactly needs to be replaced. As I have a full time job in Galway I'll be doing this whenever I'm off and rope in Dad to do the hard graft.
The car is in great nick aside from the engine except for a small scratch on the rear bumper and all 4 wheels are badly kerbed.
I am thinking about buying some aftermarket wheels instead of refurbing the standard ones. Any idea on what wheels would suit and what size fits best on the BL5?
Also, would it be advisable to get the car mapped for Irish fuel when she's running again?
