NCT Fail!

Hi Guys,

I recently bought a GT Series 11, left it on for NCT today and failed, it has a rear foglight switch being a European car, but the rear lights are the sti type.

What are my options? Source original taillights somewhere for test and connect foglight switch or buy a foglight somewhere and try attach to the bumper?

Major pain in the ar*e I must say :rtfm:

Any advice appreciated!

Major pain in the ass!!!!

If that's the only problem you have on a 14 year old car for nct, I'd be happy.

Any other make of car would cost a small fortune to get true it.

I don't have the original European lights!

As above remove the switch and replace with a blank couple of breakers will have one , no switch no fogs as far as they are concerned in the nct

It's down for a retest next week so they will be just looking at points it failed on, so they will know there was a fog light switch for original tes so I will need some form of fog light!

Ok I reckon it will still pass but if not happy you'll have to get a pair of original rear lamps and fit them. Surely someone on here has a pair. For the next text just remove the switch as said above so you dont have to keep refitting the Irish lamps for the test

Had the same problem with my Jap wagon.

(Had a blank filled by a foglight switch :wall:)

Simply fitted a fog light/bulb in to a blank in my rear tail light.

Then spent about an hour wiring it all up.

Hope you get it sorted.
 
Getting it sorted tonight, Jamie in Kildare is going to fit original lights back in for test and i'll refit STI lights after test!

Suppose I should be grateful that's all it failed on but it's blo*dy annoying!

It's like sitting in school principals office waiting on sh*te exam results in that NCT waiting room!

It's even pathetic how much people try 'swoon' over testers when signing in the car etc! :wtf:

IMO your mad

Get a blanking plate for we're the switch is which will be alot easier and you won't have to do it ever year for the nct.

And if you think this is annoying, I hope your bottom end doesn't goes bang!
 
it's now a 're-test issue' so IMO a blanking plate won't cut it with testers here, anyway i'll be wiser next time!
 
Its a retest now so you have to have the fog light as the switch was in the car. But depending how much (if anything) you are paying for the lights, it would be worth letting the retest go by and getting a fresh one at €55 with the blanking plate and never look back.
