NCT question ???????

First off its for the girfiends car (Renault clio 1.2 1999)

NCT is for wednesday week and 2 small problems with the car.

1. Rear washer jet aint working.

I presume they will check this. The rear hose aint connected to anything but there is nothing for it to connected to i went through everything and cant find a thing. I disconnected the front one and connected the rear hose onto it and the water passes through so at least there aint a blockage in the pipe. Im pretty sure there is something missing as the front washer hose is placed in the top of the tank through a drilled hole and some sort of make shift blank fitted to the washer bottle a little lower down

Anyone any suggestions?

2. Front fog lights not working

Checked all the usual things the fuse is ok i replaced the bulbs and all wiring seems to be in order with all connecter blocks connected

2 options for me either get a auto electrican to have a look or would i get away with taking off the fogs and fitting the blanks that come on the base model clio




ANyone any advice or ideas to throw my way.

Fit the blanks Mick and disconnect the switch if you can so the dash light doesnt come on. They will fail you on the fogs if they are not working.

Dunno if they will fail you for not having the washer jet working, someone else might know for sure. Hopefully they'll pass it as long as the actual wiper is working

would be fairly sure the rear washer jet not wroking will fail mick !!!!!
as for the fogs, as robbie if they are there they have to work,remove them is the cheaper option or get alan to sort it !!
bad earths i would guess on a french car!!!!

not sure you will fail for front fogs - as not all cars have them
also not sure you will fail for rear washer - agina not all cars have them
i did fail for front washer rnot working b4.
no idea on fixes either problem
my nct philosphy is lash it an see how you get on
it might pass on both probs
and fail on some other sh*t

as far as i am aware if there are fog light fitted, they must work.... they wont necessarily fail the NCT but they will certainly not help

As for the rear washer i dont know......
Sure I got my old Ibiza TDi Sport Nct'd not long ago...... Wishbone busions where hangin outta it and rear washer jet wasnt workin
it went thru without a problem.....
(both issues where fixed b4 i sold the car)

Afaik, if its fitted on the car then its supposed to work in order to pass. Whether they check this or not is a different story, the amount of death traps that actually pass with suspension bits hanging out of them is unreal so i don't believe they do anything they are supposed to anyway. Other than passing emmisions, which seem to be the majority of fails, i'd be of the opinion that unless something is staring them in the face then they won't find it or just won't care enough to do the paperwork
