I got an appointment for test with very short notice. Test is at 20.30 this evening.
There are 3 things I am concerned about. Will it pass with this reg plate or should I put original one on? Would STI tail lights be a problem ? Car is on My partners name , can I bring it to the test?

Thank You for any advice!

reg no lights yes i think any body can bring car in once u bring log book, and confirmation of test

Failed :icon_cry:
First reason is : rear fog lights. There is a switch for rear fog lights in the car but no lights in the STI rear light. I think I just replace the switch with a blank one. If I still have the front fog do I have to have the rear?

The second and bigger problem is emission: CO is 0,58 on low idle ( should be below 0,50 ) and 3,34 on high idle ( should be below 0,30) . Lambda 0.91 ( should be between 0.97 and 1.03)
I hate this because have no idea where to start to look for problem. It was all good 1,5 year and 9000 miles ago , since than I only changed the back box but it shouldn`t make any difference.
Is it most likely a CAT ?

would appreciate any help!

If the car is a UK, then you will probably have to refit the uk lights with the fog as it comes standard on the car. You might have gotten away with it if you had blanked the switch but now they've highlighted it, they'll be looking for the fog next time around.

As for the readings, I can't say might be a sensor or the cat itself, someone else might better know how to interpret the readings and give you an idea

the high idle reading is very likely the cat man.....
as robbie said on the lights..its been highlighted so a blank is pointless

Went to a local garage today and they recommended to try dipetane. They CO could be high because car is not driven to much and this thing can help. :ponder2:
Anyone used this before? Don`t want to pour anything into the tank just for " it might help"

will help but imo wont bring CO down that much.......
as for the not driving it much..dont think thats a viable reason for high CO!!

Thanks Marko, That`s what I thought it way to high for being that simple. If I was to get a high flow cat do I need a map? It`s a standard Irish car.

i'm sure one of the guys on here has a spare cat that can get you through the test....
dont think the sports cat needs mapping as much as a decat!!!

When i tested my wagon i just popped the back fog switch out and passed no problem. just let the retest run out and do a full test again and they wont be looking for the switch, by witch time you will have it out and a cat fitted. Its not worth changing lights or fitting a fog light. If your stuck i have a cat and original lights you can have a lend of to help you out, but i am in monaghan.

Just take out the switch, that's what I done the last time. I done it in the car park of the test centre and went straight back in
Be careful with the amount of diptane you use. It's strong stuff. I only ever used it in the defender

Thanks Luke, I try to sort it first. If it`s the cat I probably better to buy one anyway since the test is due every year now. No point to go through the same torture every 12 month. What You said about retest is actually a great idea , retest is only 22€ cheaper than a new full test. 22€ won`t get Me a fog light any sort.

John, I knew U mentioned something about issues with JDM lights but couldn`t remember what it was. Did You put a blank switch into the slot when popped the switch out?
BTW only drove Her 9k miles since last test 18 month ago. dipetane helped You with the defender?

Nope, just left the hole open and called the twat who tested it back out. I told him I had just put the switch in to fill a blank but it wasn't connected! As for diptane, It's supposed to increase mpg but I didnt notice much difference, but a mate blew the engine in his sisters clio by using it. I would just drive the car hard over the next week and run her back in.
