Failed mine today, have to get the retest within a month. Failed on my left dip light, was a bit too high so gonna get that fixed up and will be mint then.

Also failed on my licence plate, letters are not quite as big as they should be so will fit a regular one too and then 'obviously' switch back to the other one! it just sticks out like a sore thumb with the regular one on it!!

@NickNack: That's a grand result...
No emmisions worries etc. Get a new big gammy plate and get your headlights adjusted and you're sorted...
Happy days...

Are you alright there dagnut?? Do you want a hug?
Regardless of how much we are contributing to global warming, Brian is still looking for ways to lower his C02 emisions and that's all I was trying to do!
Do you have any constuctive ideas for him??
Dan

Gonna stick the cat back on tomorrow.
I'll more than likely know by smell alone if its made a difference.
If not i'll change the plugs and give it a try, I don't have E5 close by so thats a pain in the ass.

No E5! You poor chap!
That sucks! no doubt they'll bring it in shortly everywhere!
Dan

Been onto maxol and they don't plan to have it in galway in the near future
Got some in ennis a few weeks back alright.

They don't plan to have E5 in Cork or Galway for a while. Sent an email to them last week and this is what I got back.

"Hi Graham,

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately, we are not yet in a position to roll out E5 ex Cork or Galway, for the moment. We are reviewing this on an ongoing basis but it is likely to be at least some months before this position will change. This is due to development works that need to be carried out at this depot, plans are under review and no dates have been released as yet.

Please check our website for any updates or further information on these developments over the coming months, as all information regarding this matter will be posted there. www.maxol.ie

Should you have any further queries at this time, please do not hesitate to contact our office.

Thank you for your interest.

I'm gutted too as I was hoping to get my wagon mapped for E5 plus booster in February. The nearest Maxol that has it is Michelstown, which is too far away. Would use the bones of half a tank going to and from it. Galway and Cork are to decent size places, so don't know why we are exluded from the initial change over.

@ Yogi and Brian
Do you guys have access to E85?? If you do If you at 3lts of E85 to 47lts of normal unleaded would give you 5% bioethinol!
In theary anyway!

hmmm yeah im fine you brought up global warming....dont think us a car lovers should be perpetuating this myth is all..and on the subject of constructive ideas I think you'll find that using a bit of e85 was my idea posted a couple of weeks ago

ahhhhhhh thank you!!

but tbh it doesnt have lower emissions the reason they reckon its greener is because the crops grown should be aborbing some of the co2..thats the thinking anyway dont think it come out any cleaner..so i dont think theres much to be done but chance it and see what happens

I was told if i had em in tight enough and kept the revs low on the way to the test, that they should still be in the same place when i go to take em out :ponder:
The reason for brillo pads bein they'd absorb more than the cotton wool with the metal pieces runnin through em :ponder:
It might just be a right stupid idea

Can just imagine bubbles coming out the back of the scoob, you'd get some strange looks from the nct boys - I'm assuming you are gonna fit the catted downpipe back in before retest?

I dont know if brillo pads are big enough for this! But if you loosened the joint betwwen the center section and the back box and put the brillo pad in so it is trapped in the joint that would hold it for sure and make a good seal!

Thats exactly what i'm gonna do
Am gonna try and make up something tomorrow like a mesh pouch, fill it with the brillo pads and stick it in between that joint.
i hope it'll work  :ponder:

Well put the cat downpipe on today.
It has made a noticable difference on emissions.
Will probably stick new plugs in it and give it a full service before the retest
